Detox Bath

This is something I do frequently when I feel bogged down with stress, anxiety or negativity. I find that taking a detoxing bath helps me to loosen up and feel better, both physically and spiritually. It's very simple to do so try it out if you are interested!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of Epsom salt
  • Cup of bath salt (sea salt or lavender is my preferred)
  • 3 drops of lavender oil
  • 3 drops of rose oil
  • Sage
  • Candles (optional)
  • Music (optional)

Directions

I always like to start by first smudging the bathroom with crisp sage. I leave it in long enough that the scent lingers in the air and adds an aroma to the room. I place candles around the edges of the tub and light them before turning off the main lights in the room, so it has a faint glow about it but doesnt feel like harsh light. I let the water run as hot as I can stand it and fill the tub. It is often steaming and fills the room with a thick humid atmosphere.

Once the water is finished running, I add 1 cup of Epsom salt, cup of a bath salt I enjoy (usually lavender), a few drops of essential oils, and let it sit for just a moment. Sometimes I swirl the ingredients together with my hand to help it along. Once everything has dissolved into the water, I put myself into it.

Sometimes I use a wet washcloth over my eyes to help further soothe me by taking away my sense of sight and radiating warmth throughout my face. The next 10-20 minutes can be spent on simply relaxing. Its a good time to practice breathing in and out with deep, satisfying breaths. Focusing on the pleasant sensation of the warm water and the pleasant scents in the air helps to really lighten ones self.

If you're in the mood, this could be a good time for magical workings. Either cleansing yourself and the energy around you (drawing in positive energy, expulsion of negative energy, etc) or perhaps this kind of setting allows you to reach an easier meditative/altered state (focusing on using breathwork or other relaxing means to alter your consciousness).

After I feel I have relaxed sufficiently, I will drain the water and take a very short cold shower. Not only does it help to wash some of the oils off (as they can stick to your skin if you put too much in) but it helps to bring you back to being awake. If you were focusing on drawing in good energy and feelings, you can visualize the cold shower as "washing away the negativitiy" you still have.
