Contacting the astral

Howdy everyone. This has probably been mentioned many times before, but what are some good techniques/rituals/spells/etc... for contacting/getting to the astral plane? (I'm looking to specifically contact certain spirits/creatures there)

I've gotten to it several times before, but I want to learn of other techniques that are almost always guaranteed to work (the way I do/have done it doesn't work most of the time and takes a rather long time). If you have any ideas that might help, please let me know. Thanks. :)

I use a doorway technique myself to enter the astral. I imagine I'm walking through a doorway and on the other side is the astral. A similar way is more of a shamanic journey - go through the doorway and from there you choose which part of the universal tree you want to go to. The branches are the upper world, where the Gods live. The trunk is this world and where elves and other fae live. The roots are where the animal spirits reside.
