Backfiring

How can you prevent/make sure a spell won't backfire?

Simple, protect yourself properly.

Also make sure you know what your doing as in how to properly cast your spell. Protection is always a good idea as Boots suggested.

Be as specific as possible with your spell. Specifically write down, say or visualize what you want and don't want to happen. Going crazy on protection work could actually backfire and interfere with your work. Be specific and you'll be fine.
