So I just want to put it out there, I have yet to cast a spell knowingly or deliberately on purpose. Honestly I'm scared that I may do it wrong/hurt myself or others. Even though I have purchased/read books on casting and can do it step by step. Im still somewhat scared to act. Im hoping one day once Im comfortable and get over this fear Ill be moving forward.
With that being said. This morning when I came onto the website I saw a list of spells that consisted of, Spell to become a mermaid, Spells to change hair/eye color among a few others.
This morning got my brain thinking into overdrive. Is it possible that these spell's even though they may not work in the process of changing molecules/dna. May help set up an prepare the practitioner "if they are serious about magick" give them the tools such as concentration,preparation,understanding, among others ? It just got me thinking that maybe even though they are unaware at that moment that these spells may not work physically but maybe something great comes out of it? Thoughts ?
well, yes, it would help with focus and whatnot, but it's waisted energy. you could get stronger by punching a wall or by punching a bag, one would result in less pain. if someone is told 'all you have to do is believe' and they go out and try hundreds of mermaid spells, sure, they might be getting practice in with energy work and visualization and the like, but then someone who knows the spell won't work comes along and tries to explain to them their last month/year/however long was in vain and it will never happen. even with the comfort of practice, i doubt it would end well [probably get the same argument i've heard a thousand times 'i believe it works, therefore it's real! don't be so mean and tell me i can't!']
this is why when people ask for a 'simple beginner spell' i suggest a candle spell, those not only work, but it only requires a candle for ingredients, everything else is down to you.
Why waste your time with a fantasy spell, if you knew it isn't going to work in the first place? If you're a serious practitioner, and you know how magic works, and are confident in your spellwork, there won't be any end result to a spell that is impossible anyway. If you are wanting practice, practice other techniques that will help you in the long run, such as: Medtating, grounding, visualization, and so forth. These are tools and techniques that you'll always need to use in the future, and always need practice with. There wouldn't be a point of trying to cast a spell that doesn't work, period.
I am not interested in fluff spells at all. Im trying to see if any good comes out of this for people who do practice this stuff unknowingly thinking it works.
I suppose it can be seen that people who originally practice fluff spells have gained some knowledge from them.
Many of the people practicing these spells are very determined and so can show a great deal of intent, also many of the fluff spells ask for visualization, even if it is not obvious. They call for patience, corresponding colours, moon phases, cleansing, circle casting etc. All these things can greatly help anyone moving onto real spells, so yes, I can see that some people may develop skills they can later use from fluff spells.
But if you are aware these spells are fake then it is simply better to practice these skill in another way.
