Most people don't know the basics, and that is because no one ever gives them a straight answer. To know the basics, you must know what magik is. Magik is an energy that is within your very soul, and you have the ability to bring it out at any time. Imagine that your soul, is within your heart. Imagine magik flowing from it, thought your arms, and into your hands. If you have done this correctly, your hands and fingers should be tingling. That is all there is to it. When you want to cast a spell, you must channel that again, and expel the energy from your fingertips, into the words you are saying, the potion you're making, etc.
That does not even begin to cover the basics of magick...
The basics covers meditation (for some people more than others), centering, grounding, visualization, knowledge of reality. It is far more than focussing on something and pushing energy around, it needs to be controlled and done with knowledge.
When it comes to casting you are not the one doing the magick, you are pushing your intent out into the world, hoping for a magickal result.
Many people may not agree with me, some say that meditation is not a necessity but it is a good foundation to start building on to.
All of the above list is greatly important when it comes to moving onto bigger things and if it is missed by someone, they tend to find that they have to go back and learn it before they can continue with their "growth" on the subject.
I believe they are two completely different types of magik, and your type is good to use too, but they are for two different types of people. Yours is more powerful, but it requires you to be good with meditation, and is not always guaranteed to work. Mine is not as powerful, but it requires a lot less focus, as well as nearly always working. They are both suited for different types of people.
I would like to state that you are so wrong about people not giving straight answers about the "Basics of Magic", the basics have been posted over and over gain, if you search in the search bar "Basics of Magic" I am sure a lot of posts are going to pop up on the results and possibly a few different articles as well.
You may believe that the energy is only in your soul, but personally, I believe that energy isn't just inside of us, it's all around us. Yes we can use the energy inside of us, but we also like using the energies around us. I would like to say this isn't remotely about basics on magic, you are just stating half bated energy tutorials.
I know that their are lots of post informing people on the basics of magik, but a lot of newer people have recently joined, and I feel that it would be beneficial to them if we made some newer guides.
