Quick Question.

Are Wands necessary for casting spells and stuff? What do you really need it for? I'm just learning the basics of Wicca and was wondering if I actually needed a wand for spell casting and such.

A wand is just a tool. Some people use it while some do not.

It is used to direct energy during a spell or ritual. Many people simply point.

Wands are one of the four main tools most witches use to represent the four elements. Wands are fire, chalices are water, athames are wind and pentacles are earth. You don't need them to cast spells, unless you've found a spell that specifiacally calls for it but there really shouldn't be, but they are useful for a lot of things like connecting you to the element of fire if you have trouble connecting to it. I personally have a wand to use for casting circles.

So should I keep a wand just in case?

That is completely up to you.

Some people have an array of wands. Some have none, or one, or whatever.

Some people choose to use a ritual knife for basically the same purpose: directing energy.

The choice is completely yours.

If you want to yes, if it's going to cost you something then I wouldn't bother unless you feel you need it.

I myself have a wand, but this is completely optional. If you want one or it feels right to have one, then make one. As its been stated before, its just a tool, and some tools you don't exactly need.
