I wish to talk with a demon some day, but I don't know which demons are "nicer" than the others. I also need to do more research, but I dunno what to read from where. Any help?
S Connolly is a daemonolater, in that her path is more in terms of friendships, devotions, even worship of demons at times, whereas Asenath and Koetting are more oriented towards self-deification.
My suggestion would just be to choose a demon that resonates you, and look for ways to contact them and build your own system. I always caution against either the pompous solomonic view that demons are evil and must be constrained in the name of some divinity, while also cautioning against the devil-worshiping view of submission before the demon as a deity, replacing one idol for another.
Which is to say being respectful, though not submissive. An uncanny strength of will is obviously necessary, but I believe most of the necessary skills come with time and practice.
Open a sigil, ask the questions, write the reply. As you strengthen the connection, your path should take you where it needs to. I definitely see potential, so best not squander it.
Demons are usually bad. But not all, but whether the nice ones want to talk to you or not......, not sure what their motive would be.
In my opinion, Demons are the unbalanced conscious energy of some soul. In some cases, they are the karma a soul might someday face. In some cases, they are the denied strength and power of a soul that is in some sort of oppression. In some cases, they are the collective karma of a culture.
In most cases, the Demon Lord, aka, Satan, Lucifer, and countless other names keeps demons from returning home until the soul is ready for them. When the soul is ready to face their demons, the energy is returned, balanced, and interrogated into the soul.
While demons are conscious, they are, for lack of a better word, soulless. Or rather, their soul has denied them. Most often, the reason for denial is shame and guilt, thus demons are most often angry and hateful.
In some cases, demons are not bad energy, but still energy denied by its owner, the soul. Such energy is usually loyal to the soul and isn't out making friends and such.
While these are basic ideas, I believe some demons are old, perhaps older then the human race, an energy denied by a consciousness being long since passed. And some souls have moved on, abandoning their dark energy, leaving it to be handled by others. Some demons are so dark and nasty, self destruction is their only pray.
Mostly, if there are demons around YOU, they are probably related to you, meaning, they have business with you. Talking to demons isn't like having dinner with friends. They are energy, and if you let them in, they have a message for you that you for sure don't want to hear, other wise, why deny them?
Demons belong to people (consciousness souls), to specific people. And even through they can hurt innocent people, their only salvation is recognition from the soul that created them. They will hunt and haunt you. There are forces that keep them from us, a grace maintained by the creator. But before we are "through" we must face them.
My advice, pray for readiness and don't actually seek them.
Challen I strongly disagree, to me demons are like humans on the moral radar if not better! I believe they deserve respect as any person would, my advice for talking to a demon just be respectful and treat them as you would treat a person, thank you for taking your time to read this tell me how it goes! :)
@LordChallen I have been seeing a lot of anti-demon posts around here recently. When I first came to this site, I expected a lot of it, as the notion of demons as evil creatures is one held by most people, and a community converting muggles into magicians aught to have a lot of people with such notions.
I corrected them the first, second, maybe even third time it happened, though as time went on, I realized with that with my posts being buried down and carried away by the tide of time, it wouldn't reach that many people and the misconceptions would just keep regenerating.
However, your profile, itself, says you are looking for people's opinions and perspectives, so I am sure you wouldn't hold any of this against me, or mind my presence here.
As you might imagine, I disagree with the notion of objective evil, for a variety of reasons. To me, evil is simply that which fundamentally limits choice and freedom, where that choice would involve more flourishing, more love, more life, more freedom and potential to explore more opportunities, on a level beginning with me, and then going out within my own values, and outwards. Personal choices and definitions aside, this is not meant to be a moral debate, but simply my comments and thoughts on the nature of demonism.
On a personal level(and turn to my profile to see the UPG disclaimer, thank you), demons are not a species, but more of a profession, of sorts. Many of the demons, we meet are angels, fairies, humans, or other kinds of entities first, but with a profession or title of demonism, as they share common properties, like being beings of pure focused love(which can be considered obsession), thick and dark energy, flowing against universal mechanics, et cetera.
Many demons have strange, or nonexistent ethics, some are downright vile, but the same can be said for a lot of angels(who tend to find themselves in states of incredible detachment and apathy and not "care"), fairies(who aside from impishness can do some very not innocent things), dragons(who are capable of outright cruelty), spirits of the dead...
Everything has a place, everything hungers for power and to survive (we're not special, all gravitated towards power), everything kills. At least, on some level.
Most of the demons I have met, and especially the "mainstream" ones such as Lucifer, are more stable to work with than most humans I've met.
The statement of demons being energy is half-true, in that most spirits(including US!) are indeed made of energy, though it is not energy alone that makes the demon up, anymore than it is energy alone that makes the human up.
Overall, I highly stand against popular and common notions of demons, as vile creatures trying to buy your soul and drag you to hell.
I currently have a headache, so this could have been much better worded, but at least I could get the message across.
Demons are a lot like humans, if you believe scripture they are told to embody humans. You should treat them like any normal person, but some may get offended easily so watch out.
If you want to find a friendly demon check this site. It also has their sigils and information about the demons
