Thoughts?

Hey everyone.

I just wanted to get your thoughts on something. I'm thinking about dabbling in dark magick, but I'm doing my research beforehand. Reading before doing. Is it smart for me to do so, or should I just sit back and read instead of actually doing?

I've dabbled before, and never really notcied it affect my life. I mean, overall it probably did increase my anxiety, but that's something I can manage without magick.

So, just wanted your thoughts on it. It would be just little practice things, nothing to hurt anyone. Probably more or less to have some personal gain, but not in way of material wealth or power. Just for better attitude and more positivity in my life, because, if I'm being honest, "white" magick and "white" spells and rituals have never helped with my mood, whereas dark magick has.

Again, just looking for thoughts and suggestions. Thanks!

I haven't applied myself to dark magic or anything on that side of the spectrum of the sorts, but I do feel that you're taking the right precautions. I've considered dabbling a bit in it myself, but as of now I get spooked easily and am always reminded of the Wiccan three fold rule. However, I also strongly believe in mind power and how only what you believe, determines what you perceive. If you feel like the dark arts have proved more beneficial to you in some ways compared to white magic, and you feel secure about yourself and confident, then I support you on your research. If after the research you decide otherwise, then so be it. Good luck

To be honest, I am one of those genetic pagans who preaches, "intent, not color". I feel that using color terms for magick is great for sorting a grimore/book of shadows! It's good in candle magick! But see here is the problem: what you think is, "black" or "dark" is not what the person next to you thinks of as black or dark. So you see how color is a very personal thing and is not set.

It also places a moral implication on magick with, "this is good, that is bad." I tend to think things are not so black in white morally speaking. If someone has done you wrong in a great way yes I do think it is perfectly acceptable to curse/hex/jinx them. I'm not talking petty stuff I mean like big things, costing you a place to live, running over your dog, setting your house on fire, etc. I disagree with the Wiccan rende or harm none because many people are terrible and deserve it.

When it comes to backlash or ill effects, even "white" magick spells can backfire. They can either not work, work but not in the way you wanted them to, etc. So I feel it's all kind of the same. If you think what you are doing might cause ill effects in one manner or another you can always bless and cleanse after your working. Though I think a lot of the backlash is psycological and comes from feelings of guilt and remorse.

To be clear I understand "black" magick can be used for more than curses and hexes but I feel that alone further goes to showcase my point in, "how is it any different from regular magick if it can be used for the same purpose in the same way?"
