Help please!!!

Hello! I've been practicing magic for little more over a year now, and always been excited to see the out come of the spells. But none of them seem to be sticking, like I'll get the side effects but then nothing happens. A few weeks back, I casted a wing growing spell and I've had some-not all- side effects but nothing happens after. So now I'm trying to go simpler by just growing my hair (it's in a pixie and I really don't like it, I want my long hair again) but nothing is happening! I've tried writing my own spells. I can't go out and buy candles or herbs because my mom will but me in a mental hospital if she finds out I've been messing around with magic. I just want some help or some tips on how to cast a spell or make the magic stick. ***Side note: yes I did read the info for beginners and tips to help cast but they didn't work very well. Especially if I can't get a hold on candles or herbs.****

Oh and another side note:how the heck do I activate my powers??!!

You don't need to activate powers but you do need to understand the difference between fantasy and reality, magick works with nature, not against it; you cannot grow wings or change yourself in any way physically (including super growing your hair), you cannot change DNA, you cannot teleport, etc.

Also may I ask if it's possible to change my name? weird question and a strange thing to do but I don't think it has anything to do with altering our DNA or giving me super powers.

You don't need magick to change your name, that is a legal process that you can do from 18 onwards.

Yeah I know except I'm a little underage to do that and my family refuses to do that. I don't know I thought I could do something about it
