One of the most catastrophic mind states for the magician is the science illusion state where one conforms to the myth that if something can not be proven scientifically then it is not valid. The catastrophe of this is that one might remain in it for life.
There are lots of individuals who know that the science illusion state is inaccurate and acts only to oppose spiritual progress.
I like to think that Science will one day discover a method of Proving things that will see what we've known as truth for millennia. Science once laughed at the Platypus, too.
I do find that science does have value in the world however, and I see it not as an enemy so much as a compliment. After all, the physical and the spiritual tend to be reflective of eachother, and often knowledge of one has been gained from understanding of the other.
Personally I look at magic and science as two sides of the same coin.
I agree with the first response. They might change their perception though I don't see how they will ever find 'scientific proof' for subjects as deep as deities or astral travel.
I have been teaching for quite some time in this field. I respect people's opinions but I find it somewhat misleading that science is complementary to magick. Science contradicts even it's closest cousin (alchemy) from the magick world. This is one of the reasons why Mr Robert Boyle interfered. Also as far as 'physical' and 'spiritual' are concerned magick covers both not only the spiritual. Science has limits (one obvious one is that it does not advance beyond the 'physical')
Sciene has nothing to do with the spiritual, so any magician a alysing results through accepted science is a fool in the first place.
Science is the study of physical phenomenon, magic is working with things which transcend physical reality.
It would be akin to trying to measure blood sugar with a thermometer. How could you possibly measure something which is not part of physical reality with an instrument constructed from that physical reality?

Many pagans are in medical/science fields in real life. Historically magick was merely things science had yet to understand. Why does chamomile tea cure my cold? Witchcraft.
While I believe you should seek your own answers and draw your own conclusions, science shouldn't be ignored either. You have cancer, a spell and/or reiki healing can help, but don't ignore the doctors and medication because 'what does science know?' Use all the tools at your disposal.
I agree. Cancer is not a spiritual disease effecting spiritual centres, but a physical one. Therefore you would use physical cures first and foremost. To not do so would be the equivalent of taking aspirin for a dirty aura or blocked nadi.
Another thing pagans need to realise is that magic is not a substitute or replacement for hard work, physical action, and physical aid. It can be an aid, but how much of one is debatable- again that lies outside the realms of science and objective evidence.
To add: I highly recommend that all people interested in magick should study science (medicine, biology chemistry, physics any form would do). That way they will know it's limits and maybe have the ability to separate the two subjects.
