You should try to come to terms with it. How would you like it if they stayed together but were miserable the rest of their lifes?

our parents have their own life and choices, we often just get caught in the middle, my advice is make peace with it and let things run their course, easier said that done i know, but Verity raised a very good point, if they were together and in a permanent state of misery it could easily escalate to physical violence, is this really a route one even wants to consider? Also remember, your parents life is theirs, yours is yours, so make yours count to the full and let the live with their choices.
