Working with succulents
By:
So I'm new to green witchcraft and I'm interested in working with the succulents I'm growing from leaves. They are growing really nicely, but I'm trying to figure out how I can work with them aside from asking them for aid in spells and talking to the plant spirits.

Anyone else work with succulents?

A succulent was the first plant I can vividly remember working with. My grandmother had many different varieties of succulents that she cultivated and shared with the world around her. The Sempervivum, commonly known as; cats and kittens, hens and chickens, foreverlife or houseleeks is considered to be lucky, protective, prosperous, and associated with strength, endurance, adaptability, and storage. Succulents are sources of water and can often provide healing energy. Aloe vera is the first plant I can remember using as a child to help heal sunburn, snap the plant and apply the goo. Portulaca oleracea,or purslane is a succulent that grows in most of the world at this time though it originated in North Africa and the Middle East. I first used this one to calm bug bites at camp when I was about eight years old. Cacti are also in this category and they are very protective and have longevity. There is much to explore with the magical abilities of these magnificent plants.

I suggest reading up on all accepts of the plants you have to better understand the plants and how they interact with the outside world. This will help you to incorporate your plants into magical workings. Such as harvesting spines or points of plants to add to protection spell and wards. Using the water or pulverized plant matter as a liquid or part of a healing salve. Encouraging the plants to multiple can provide protection as well as prosperity, and they can be pieces of good fortune to give away.
