Healing

My healing spells haven't been working lately, at all. Is there any way to get better at healing magick? Note that I'm still in the broom closet and live with my parents. My other spells seem to be working well, except for dream magick. If anyone has any tips on dream or healing magick, that would be appreciated.

There can be a few reasons for it to feel like your effectiveness is encountering some ups and downs. One thing that comes to mind is that it is just a natural (normal) event. Sometimes the energy and focus just isn't there. Or sometimes the healing being called for isn't what you (or your subject) need at the time. Perhaps the thing you are trying to heal is being held on to, or lingering because of a habit or mentality that needs to first be let go. I believe a modern axiom would be 'It is difficult to cure cancer in someone who refuses to stop smoking'.

Likewise, there could be something going on personally that you need to work with/through. Maybe explore yourself for a while, and see if there is something going on that is blocking you from doing more. A bad habit, or a period of high stress or poor health. Invasive negative thoughts. That sort of thing. This could be a case of 'physician, heal thy self.'

Another possibility would be that it is time to start learning other varieties of techniques to expand your understanding and experience. Learn about crystal healing, Reiki, Sound healing, channelling energy (rather than using your own). Heck, you can pick up some good notes from reading up on Qi-Gong exercises and meditations. See if you can discover some new ideas or techniques you haven't tried before and stir up that child-like wonder again.

And finally, one difficult thing to bear in mind is that not all things can (or should) be healed. Sometimes some of the lessons a person needs to learn come from/through adversity. Other times illnesses are results of past choices and activities who'se consequences are coming to bear. And some of these sorts of things require a deep personal change or epiphany before the opportunity to heal can come to be. Sometimes healing isn't the curing of a dis-ease, but instead an act of compassion, understanding, and growth as a result of it.

Spirit76 makes some good points. You can't heal others if you don't heal yourself. [that's something I've had to work on] If you're not in a healthy place mind, body and spirit, it can affect your energy and your castings. Sit with yourself, check in with yourself, and review all aspects of your life, maybe you're subconsciously blocking your abilities.

I would also go back to basics, specifically energy work and meditation. There have been times where my spells aren't working how I want them to and realized I'm not focusing correctly [like, I didn't ground properly, or I let my mind wander as I was casting] so slow down and be mindful.

Another thing I would try is the old "keep it simple" because less is more. Yes, a spell with seven items puts forth more energy, but you can do the same thing with a chamomile tea and charging it with energy as it steeps [sometimes, people don't cast properly when there are more items, assuming the ingredients will fill in the gaps]

Overall, unless I was there to watch you cast, I can't pinpoint the issue, but I would reflect on my life and figure out where I'm not balanced [because 90% of the time, when I'm having magick issues, it's me not eat healthy, or not sleeping enough, or having a mental health issue. The other 10% it's the natural flow of energy working against me]
