How to use smoke in a rit

As title says, how would i use smoke in a ritual besides purifying the air from negative spirits?

I'm going to go with, move the smoke around the room saying your petition to cleans a home. You can also send a spell on the rising smoke and watch it go after your target.

You mean like from sage and incense?

Smoke in acient times was in certain areas used as a divination method, in divinatory practices. This form of divination is called capnomancy, divination by smoke of a wood or plant. An offshoot of capnomancy is called libomancy and is the divination of smoke specifically from incense.

Smoke in ritual for purposes other than cleansing would be to use it as a representation of air.

The smoke of mugwort has been inhaled to prompt visions by certain peoples.

Smoke can be used in rituals of healing. The idea being the smoke envelops the individual, and is visualized as having healing properties.

Different smoke from different herbs and incenses can have attributes of their own and these different intentions, can be used in workings on their own, essentially meaning different smoke blends can serve entirely as workings all on their own.
