So, I managed to sway the flames of a candle in my mind by just saying it in my mind while looking at the flames. Is that odd? I wasn't even focusing too much, and I had to shout in my head for them to go back to normal. I'm legitimately confused, what the heck does this mean?
Flames will naturally move with air currents in the room, you most likely didn't do anything in the physical world. While I however do believe energy can interact with anything physically, it is not a shared belief among the Witch Community. And I'm not talking about telekinesis by the way. Without more information on what you exactly did its impossible for me to tell you what you did magically so it just sounds like you didn't do anything relating to real life magical practices.
Flames are very easily moved. Could be air conditioning, impurities on the wick or more. I assume you are looking at this to be Pyrokinesis? This, at least to me is not real.
If you are interested in the meaning of a moving flame, you can look into divination with ritual candle burns. There are articles here as well about working with Elementals.
Pyrokinesis is a skill some systems of magick teach. You can try googling the term to see if you want to look into it. It's a skill that most of us find difficult. (I've never been able to do a dang thing in that direction, for example.)It can be developed into higher-lever abilities. Like I said google it: there is a lot of info on it out there
Not odd. When I began my path, I would often practice controlling a candle flame. You're feeding magickal energy into the flame to make it move. You can't control the fire [meaning shape it into a bird or something] and you can't create fire from nothing, but you can add/remove magickal energy to the fire element of the candle flame [don't expect it to burst into a giant fireball, but if you're casting and you notice one of the pillar candles about to go out, it's a neat trick to help stabilize it] I wouldn't recommend playing with the candle flame while casting a spell since how the flame moves and how the candle burns can indicate how the spell is going [that's why the flame acts odd when you cast, you've charged the candle with magickal energy and the fire element reacts to that energy. A weak flame would indicate a lack of energy, while a giant flame would indicate a lot of energy]
