You cannot become a mermaid, magick goes by the laws of nature. Mermaids are a myth and you can connect with the water element but you cannot become a mermaid.
Naw, that sounds about right. Mermaids could be comparable to, or at least connected with, water elementals. Though save for modern stories, traditionally mermaids are meant to be feared as they lure sailors to their death quite often.
But I suppose a savvy/clever person could find a way to apply that nature into another direction like protection.
You are correct. Meremaids are myths, but that does not discredit them. They are astral beings, or elemental spirits as Spirit76 mentioned. You can work with them in your path like any divine beings. The fact most refuse to accept, is on the physical, you cannot become one. As you said, the Magikal law on the physical plane is the law of nature. That does not mean you cannot become a mermaid on another plane. You can astrally or mentally shift into a mermaid. You could also expand your view and honour them on the physical by purchasing a meremaid tail and learning how to swim with it. As you do this, you would call on meremaid spirits and connect with them as you exercise. There is a plethora of ways one can work with meremaids in their craft, but people need to see beyond their hope of physical transformation. That is the first hurdle to overcome so you can improve on your spiritual journey.
