The word Rune comes from the Germanic word ''Runa'' meaning secret. There are 24 Elder Futhark Runes of Germanic Origin, 16 Younger Futhark Runes of Norse origin and 24 to 33 Old English Runes.

The Runes are divided up into three Aetts.
First Aett is Freya's Aett consisting of
Feoh: domesticated cattle, acquired wealth, possessions
Ur: Auroch, an extinct wild oxen, forerunner of today's
European cattle, wild energy
Thorn: Thor's Hammer, gateway, decision, thorn.
Os: messenger, trickster, spoken word, tests
Rad: wheels, a journey, spiritual reunion
Ken: opening, light, torch, fire, to know, creative
Gyfu: partnerships, gifts
Wynn: joy, happiness, light, laughter

Second Aett is HeimdallR's Aett consisting of
Hagal: fire and ice polarity, ail, destruction, balance
Nyd: need to experience, patience
Is: ice, frozen over, standstill
Ger: one year cycle, completion
Yr: defense, flexibility, Yew tree (Yggdrasil)
Peorth: chance, unknown, finding something lost
Eolh: protection, elk, peace, banish negativity
Sigil: wholeness, life's energy, sun's energy, health

Third Aett is Tiw's Aett consisting of
Tiw: victory, success, positive, high energy, a quest
Beorc: fertility, growth, rebirth, birch tree
Eh: movement, gradual growth, change, conveyance
Man: mankind, the self, self awareness
Lagu: flow, women's cycles, water, moon, psychic
Ing: fertility, family ties, new beginnings
Daeg: light, 24 hour period, 180 degree change
Odal: separation, inheritance, ancestral home

It is also very easy to make your own set all you need is wood, stone, shells, beans etc??? and you could make the symbols with a knife or a sharpie marker it is that easy..
