How exactly does casting a spell on a talisman works? I?ve read/heard spellcasters say that after they do the ritual they will give a talisman for the other person to work with. Sometimes it is hiding it, other times burying it or even burning it.

Can anyone illuminate me on why is this? How does these talismans work? Do the spell will start working once the talisman is recieved?
