Hi everyone,

I?ve been interested in magic and spellwork for a while now, mostly from a practical and experiential point of view. Lately I?ve been trying to find movies that portray spells, rituals, and magical workings in a way that feels grounded ? not flashy fantasy, not instant results, not magic as a shortcut.

A lot of ?magic movies? look good visually but completely miss the process: preparation, focus, repetition, doubt, and consequences. I?m not looking for perfect realism, but I do want something that understands magic as work, not spectacle.

Here are a few movies I?ve already watched:

A Dark Song (2016)

The Witch (2015)

The Love Witch (2016)

H?xan (1922)

Practical Magic (1998)

Some of these felt heavy and ritual-focused, some symbolic, some more emotional than practical ? but all of them tried, in different ways, to take magic seriously.

I also came across a couple of tag-based movie lists, though I?m not sure how useful they really are:

What movies, in your opinion, show spells or magic in a way that feels honest?
Not instant power or flashy effects, but intention, effort, atmosphere, and consequences.

Would love to hear your recommendations.
