This describes the difference between black magic and white magic.

What's the difference between black magic and white magic? Magic, really, doesn't have any color, but we give it colors to categorize by intent.

We identify Black Magic, as "evil" magic. It can be used to harm someone. To curse, cause bad luck or misfortune on others, are examples.

We identify White Magic, as "good" magic. They don't harm anyone, and can aid in healing, and be used for good luck.

Though it's a short article, this is only to describe the difference between the two categories.

What about Black Magic is so bad and harmful?

''Black magick'' isn't actually a thing. Magick is neutral and it's the positive or negative charge we give it that makes the energy positive or negative. ''Black'' and ''white'' are racial constructs to try and make one type of magick seem better than the other. Witches historically practiced magick and wasn't defined by colour. Today, some may choose to reframe from harmful magick, but then you need to define your view of harm. A job spell for yourself means someone else lost that job [harm] a love spell means your friends get together, but the person who had a crush on one of them no longer has a chance. [harm] On the flip side, you curse a rapist, is that harmful when someone is suffering from the person's actions? Binding a person's free will when they intend to destroy sacred land? Seeing an opportunity to get something that benefits you before someone else? You need to contemplate your morals and ethics and determine what is and isn't ethical to cast. I know plenty of people that work what is considered ''black magick'' and they live a pretty good life. I also know witches who only do ''white magick'' who have the same level of good fortune. I've cast curses, hexes, and bindings, I've never had any negative consequences from those spells. The issue is, the energy is far more intense [think about when you enter a room after a fight. The room's energy is charged negatively] so understanding how to cleanse, protect, and direct this energy is key. The majority of the time, people being negatively affected by a ''black magick'' spell, is because they didn't cleanse their space and some negative energy lingered.
