Purification Spell (To Break a Curse)

This is a ''heavy-duty'' purification spell.

On the night after the full moon and just before bed, light 13 candles, preferably white. Fill the tub up with hot water (as hot as you can stand to sit in). Add 1 cup sea salt, 1 tablespoon sage, 1 tablespoon lavender and 1 tablespoon chamomile. Turn off the water and let the bath steep in the herbs. Kneel or sit in front of the tub, in the nude, and repeat this incantation:

What was done was done
Be it now undone
By the light of the full moon's wane
Cleanse my soul of taint and stain
Let now my hurtful spell reverse
And lift from me this vicious curse
As I enter now this sacred space
Return my spirit to it's grace

Enter the bath and let the water cleanse away the effects of the curse. Use your hands to gather up the water and pour it 3 times of your head. Each time you do, repeat:

Accept my apologies for what was done
Disperse my spell with the morning's sun

Remain in the bath until the water cools. Drain the tub and rinse off. Snuff the candles and go to sleep. By dawn the curse will be broken and you will once again find that feeling of ''blessedness'' that you lost.

To rid yourself of problems or a troublesome situation.

Take cotton yarn in the appropriate color of the problem (green for money, red for love, etc) and pour out your fears and problems in to the yarn. Tie it up in knots to symbolize how ''tied-up'' you feel. Take it outside and let the wind blow it away along with your negativity. Go back inside and take a ritual bath or shower cleansing.

Best done during the full moon

Cleanse your working area as normal. (If you chose to do this out side, which is preferable, it may be difficult to do this, so just do your best)

Stand facing east and say:I call to the forces of Air to watch over my rite and to offer assisstence and protection and to protect me from harm. Hail and be welcomed.

Bow your head and turn to face the south, and say:I call to the forces of Fire to watch over my rite and to offer assisstence and protection and to protect me from harm. Hail and be welcomed.

Again bow your head and turn to the west repeating:I call to the forces of Water to watch over my rite and to offer assisstence and protection and to protect me from harm. Hail and be welcomed.

After bow your head in reverence to the element, then turn to the north and say:I call to the forces of Earth to watch over my rite and to offer assisstence and protection and to protect me from harm. Hail and be welcomed.

Place the elemental wepons in there cardinal points. The wand in the east quarter, the dagger in the south, the cup to the west and finaly pentacle to the north. Above the wand trace the invoking pentagram of earth and say: I invoke the power of earth, I invoke the power of Gia!

See the pentagram of earth being burned into the air glowing with a pure white light. Feel the power in you rise, when you can feel the pentagram there move onto the dagger and repeat. Also repeat this with the cup and the pentacle.
Go to the center and see the pentagrams flaming and glowing around you. Stretch out your arms above your head and look to the heavens, and in a strong, clear voice, with passion say:I invoke the power of my eternal spirit! I invoke the power of Gia!

At this point visualize white beams of light coming from the pentagrams surrounding you and meeting at the crown of your head. Feel the power root you to the earth let it flow throughout your whole being.
After this face the direction of earth, the north, again, and say with feeling and heart:Come here today to celebrate and invoke the power of Gia as she is reborn into the maiden. With her she brings new life, love and change. The wheel of the year turns yet again. I invoke you Gia.

Turn to the east and pick up your wand. Hold it in front of you and say:I invoke the airy nature of earth, free flowing but still solid and strong. I invoke you Gia!

Again feel your power rise. Place the wand down and turn to the south, then hold your dagger high and say:I invoke the firey nature of earth volitile and distructive. I invoke you Gia.

Place the dagger down and turn west. Hold the cup above you and say:I invoke the watery nature of earth, sutble, in movement and of power. I invoke you Gia!

Place the cup down and turn to the north, then pick up your pentacle and say:I invoke the true nature of earth, solid, dense, grounding, powerfull. I invoke you Gia!

Stay facing north and walk backwards to the center and stand beneath the point where the pentacles have met up. Look upwards and say:I invoke the earth aspect of of my sprit. I invoke you Gia!

Pick up the crstal and hold it in front of you and say:This crsytal is part of me, it comes from the earth. I invoke you Gia!

The energys around you will be chaotic and rushing all aspects of earth represented. Feel them and then stabilize them and when you feel that this has been done say in a strong, loud and clear voice:Gia your child speaks to thee. I ask for your help, guidence, power, and protection. You are nature. You are devine. I celebrate you in all your forms. Gia I invoke you come into me. This is my will and my power so mote it be!

Repeat the last invocaion until you feel an emense force come from beneath you and enter into your being. A feeling of change and manifestation will take over you. DO NOT FIGHT IT. Also gia will give you a word of power which you can use in rites and spells. Once this word is spoken the invocation is over and you shall return to your normal state. Aproach the food and wine and say:Now to eat and drink in celebration of the Mighty Mother!

Once you have finsihed. Thank the elements and Gia and close the circle as usual. With the power given to you from Gia, you may wish to change some into a crsytal, amulate or talismen in honour of her.

#28 - Making Your Own Balms

This is an instruction as to making your own balms as in Lip balm, Healing Balms, Callouse Balm.

    Basics

The basics of making a Balm are to extract the beneficial properties of herbs in oil, then add beeswax to harden the oil. You may also add other ingredients such as essential oils, or even flavorings in the case of making lip balms. In some recipes the process of infusing oils is skipped entirely and essential oils are used on their own with various carrier oils.

For each recipe below that does use herbs you will infuse your oil first. To learn more about infusing oils please see How to Infuse Oils. I like to leave my herbs to infuse on their own for at least one full moon cycle. Others may wish to use heat for a more rapid infusion.

Depending on the freshness and the type of herbs you are using you may wish to strain the oil and add more herbs once or twice. This is entirely up to you. I find that by using very fresh herbs in generous quantities that I do not need to do this. I also use essential oils in my balms very often, however, so you may wish to do the strain and add method if you choose to leave the essential oils out of the balm you are making.

Once your oil is ready you will melt your solid oils and any wax you are using in a pan over very low heat. Next add your infused oil and test for hardness as explained in the tips below. Cool slightly and add essential oils if you are using them. Pour into containers and label and you are all set.

    Tips for Making Balms

If you intend to make your Balm using freshly collected plants, you will want to clean them first. Do this by shaking them to remove dirt then spread the herbs out to allow them to air dry for several hours (until wilted) to reduce the moisture content. Any herb that contains a lot of moisture could cause your Balm to spoil or even mold. For this reason I, myself, prefer to use dried herbs in my oil to avoid contamination and excessive moisture which may cause such spoilage.

Once you add your wax you will want to test to see if your Balm is the right consistancy. To do a simple test I dip a spoon into the mixture and set it in the freezer for a minute or two. You might also try is dipping the spoon into ice water for a few moments. If your Balm is too soft, add more beeswax and if it is too hard add a little more carrier oil.

You will want to pour your Balm into sterilized containers and label them accordingly. You may sterilize by simply washing in very hot water in the dishwasher with a detergent containing bleach or by using bleach in the rinse water if washing by hand. Air dry to avoid re-contaminating your containers and again causing premature spoilage.

Do not add any essential oils when your base oil is very very hot-it may very well destroy them in the process.

Be sure pans are non-metal such as glass or porcelin If you must use metal pans or utensils be sure they are not made of aluminum and they are not coated with a non-stick surface.

To add vitamin E, poke a hole in the capsule with a pin and squeeze out the contents. Discard the capsule.

Be careful when using some essential oils and even carrier oils. They can cause allergic reactions. For instance those who are allergic to nuts should be careful and avoid using almond oil or any other oil derived from nuts including peanut and walnut oils. Be sure when selling or giving gifts of balms to label them with all ingredients to avoid someone having a life threatening reaction.

You really should heat your oils and waxes over hot water in a double boiler.

Be very sure your containers are made for pouring hot liquids into. Many are not and there is nothing worse than spending a month making a lovely oil and getting your balm made and having your containers crack and spill it all over the counter top!

Proportions for beeswax are approximate. If you want a harder or softer balm add or subtract from your recipe accordingly.

You can also soften balm a bit by adding borax and water. The borax acts as an emulsifier and will allow the water and oil to mix rather than separate. I use 1 teaspoon of borax in 1 cup of water. Do not add the whole cup of water to your recipe! Add a few drops or a quarter teaspoon at a time at the most and then test your consistency. Keep doing this until it reaches the desired level. It will cause your balm to harden quickly so do this last.

Take a small square of paper and write on it the name of the annoying would-be lover.
Use black ink for this. Many Gypsies also say that it is best to use one of the old ''dip'' pens and ink,
rather than a modern ballpoint, but you could experiment. Let the ink dry; don't blot it.
Then light a white candle and burn the piece of paper in its flame while thinking of the person
running away from you. Catch the ashes in something
(burning the paper over an ashtray is a good idea) and carry them out to a hillside (you can do
this by putting them in a small plastic bag, similar). There you must place the ashes on the
upturned palm of your right hand and hold it up, saying:

”Winds of the North, East, South and West,
Carry these affections to where they'll be best.
Let her/his heart be open and free,
And let her/his mind be away from me.”
