Why do they happen?
What makes someone more vulnerable to them while others never experience it?
How can possessed people be set free?
Is there a way to help them at all?
In which cases there isn't?
Do you have a personal experiance of possession or coexisting with a demon/spirit/whatever, and if so, have you tried to free yourself, what did you do, and did it work?
Does someone you know?
Can exorcism be performed without someones' approval?
With which illnesses it it usually confused?
Why do they happen?
there is more than one reason. It all depends, sometimes it happens because the person let it happen. Other times because the situation where the person was needed to happened. Some other times it was a mistake. It all varies time through time, but I can say that a person is more to blame.
What makes someone more vulnerable to them while others never experience it?
Emotions mostly and the state of mind.
How can possessed people be set free?
WIll power, but sometimes when it is in advance stage, it might need help of other people such as exorcists.
Is there a way to help them at all?
Yes, but one must know who is the fight against.
In which cases there isn't?
In all cases, but it is very important to have permission to do so.
Do you have a personal experiance of possession or coexisting with a demon/spirit/whatever, and if so, have you tried to free yourself, what did you do, and did it work?
Yes, and I do nothing.. I just ignore it. It does work since I do not put to much though into nor I give them power by feeling fear towards it.
Does someone you know?
Probably..
Can exorcism be performed without someones' approval?
Yes, but it should not be done.
With which illnesses it it usually confused?
Schizophrenia..
Take in count that the definition of possession for me is being under the influence of a demon, not necessarily the demon inside of the body or directly controlling it; just like a drug.
Those are all good points...
When you say excorcists, who do you have in mind?
Does the authority to drive those entities belong to the christian priests alone?
Can the demon make a person see himself in a mirror as a disfigured monster, skeleton or rotting corpse? This I ask because I know of such case, the person did not come near the mirror for the last six years and still doesn't...
When can we rule out the illness of the mind and say that the condition is definitely possession?
When you say exorcists, who do you have in mind?
Any one who is has knowledge of such area, and it is prepare for it or at least be taught somewhere of how to perform one.
Does the authority to drive those entities belong to the Christian priests alone?
No, shamans are as reliables as well, same with monks or any good spiritualist.
Can the demon make a person see himself in a mirror as a disfigured monster, skeleton or rotting corpse?
Yes, sometimes it is only visible to the possessed person, but some people are very sensitive that they can just see it no need of mirror. Some demons can appear as multiple entities and change appearances.
When can we rule out the illness of the mind and say that the condition is definitely possession?
When there is more than two witnesses and there are physical proofs such as seeing actual objects flying across the room. ^_^.
I kinda think the opposite I guess. I think posession should be ruled out before schitzophrenia is diagnosed. Metaphysics and modern science don't see eye to eye though :P
People with many insecurities are more susceptible to possessions. In most cases praying over to possessed will set them free, but you should always call a priest, monk or shaman. An exorcism can not happen unless to church permits it, if an exorcist goes against these orders he or she will be punished if its not demonic, or evil. If it is they will not be punished. Most cases I've seen are usually confused with Schizophrenia or a form of autism with the violent outbursts.

People who believe that they are possessed, and act as though they are possessed, are mentally ill.And should have treatment for that illness. Possession by demons or spirits is a myth!
