A short devotional prayer to the Sun for focusing the practitioner's energies and attention on a daily basis. Suitable for all Grades. If practiced regularly, it will easily become memorized and eventually become automatic. This is a sign of great success in the practice. If the student feels strongly moved by this exercise, he should make a commitment to perform it four times daily for at least a month. This may require at least one disturbance from sleep or interruption of one's regular work for the few moments it takes to perform the adoration. This is also a sign and tool of strenghtening Will. If necessary, it can be performed silently or mentally, though doing it aloud and physically is preferrable.
The image is of the Sun-God, Ra, under his various names and forms, who is envisioned as travelling over the dome of the sky in his Solar Barque. At the prow stands Tahuti (Thoth), God of Wisdom, and at the steering-helm in the rear stands Horus (Ra-Hoor), the Warrior God. One can see this image frequently in Egyptian art. When performing the adorations face in the indicated direction and hold up one's arms in the attitude of worship.
This is a shortened version of Crowley's original Liber Resh, omitting the Great Invocation prayer which he utilized based upon his translation of the Stele of Revealing and included by Aiwass-Crowley in Liber AL. It is suitable for Thelemites and others as well. For an initiated interpretation of the full version of Liber Resh, see Fra. Petros Xristos's Liber Resh Illustrated Comment.
1. Dawn. Face East.
Hail Unto Thee who art Ra in thy Rising, even unto Thee who art Ra in Thy Strength
Who travellest over the Heavens in Thy bark at the uprising of the Sun
Tahuti standeth in His splendor at the prow, and Ra-Hoor abideth at the Helm
Hail unto Thee from the Abodes of Night!
AUM
2. Noon. Face South.
Hail Unto Thee who art Ahathoor in thy Triumphing, even unto Thee who art Ahathoor in thy Beauty
Who travellest over the Heavens in Thy bark at the mid-course of the Sun.
Tahuti standeth in His splendor at the prow, and Ra-Hoor abideth at the Helm.
Hail unto Thee from the Abodes of Morn!
AUM
3. Sunset. Face West.
Hail Unto Thee who art Tum in thy Setting, even unto Thee who art Tum in thy Joy
Who travellest over the Heavens in Thy bark at the down-going of the Sun.
Tahuti standeth in His splendor at the prow, and Ra-Hoor abideth at the Helm.
Hail unto Thee from the Abodes of Day!
AUM
4. Midnight. Face North.
Hail Unto Thee who art Khepra in thy Hiding, even unto Thee who art Khepra in thy Silence
Who travellest over the Heavens in Thy bark at the midnight hour of the Sun.
Tahuti standeth in His splendor at the prow, and Ra-Hoor abideth at the Helm.
Hail unto Thee from the Abodes of Evening!
AUM

This is more along the lines of invoking the energies of the different phases of the sun before whatever workings you do that correspond to the phase. ( if you need to know what corresponds with each sun phase, let me know and I will post)
**Dawn: Infant/Young child
General time: Sunrise to 9am
Face east and say the following: (or something similar)
"O Youngest Babe, so newly born
Help me on this bright new morn
Aid this effort with Your Power
And strengthen it with every hour."
**Morning: Adolescent Brother/Lover
General time: 9am to 11am
Face the sun and say the following: (or something similar)
"O Vital Sun of growing strength
Come to me and stay at length
Bring my work intensity
And add it to Your potency."
**Noon: Father Sun (much like the full moon phase)
General time: 11am to 1pm (although 12 noon is much better)
Face the sun and say the following: (or something similar)
"Father Sun of strength and might
Aid this work in taking flight
To the target, be its guide
And add Your power to its ride."
**Afternoon: Sage/Warrior
General time: 1pm to 3pm
Face the sun and say the following: (or something similar)
"Wise Warrior Sun of amber light
Wrap me in Your rays so bright
And wrap my work within them too
So it hits its mark, both straight and true."
**Grandfather/Sacrificial Sun (much like the Waning Moon phase)
General time: 3pm to sunset (closer to sunset, the better)
Face the sun and say the following: (or something similar)
"O setting sun of passing day
Aid me in your gentle way
Take this effort, Ancient One
With Your strength as You pass on."
