"Christian Wiccans"

I'm very tired of my inbox filling up with questions like, "I like magic but my mom is wants me to be christian. Can i do both?" It frustrates me to even think about the concept. So i post the answer here. One final time. From a pagan standpoint...yes you can. However from a Christian standpoint you cannot. The bible strictly forbids any form of magick.

Old Tesitmate
Exodus 22:18 "Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live"

Deuteronomy 18:10-11 "There shall not be found among you anyone ....that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter or a witch, or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer."

New Testimate(for those that think things changed from the old to new testimates)
Galations 5:19-21 " 19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God."

Revelation 21:8 "But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death."

And to those "Christian Wiccans" who state that the bible has been tampered with, i say this...the bible is the only thing in existence that attempts to prove Christianity true. Without its authenticity, you have no basis for any belief of the matter. Therefore, by stating that men have removed/added/messed with things from the bible at all means that anything could have been added or removed. Or better yet the whole thing was made up in the first place. I am not here to bash Christianity, i respect all religions. They have a right to their's just as i have a right to mine. But you cannot mix witchcraft with any sort of Judeo-Christian belief. All it shows is the kids wanting to remain in "gods grace" while still attempting to utilize something god expressly forbids and even condemns.

And in closing i know that this topic was a major issue when i was here before. I apologize if any rule was made in my absence about keeping it off the forums. I am not here to start a debate. Just here to provide answers. If i did anything wrong please pm me(mods only for this topic) to let me know. Thank you and blessed be.

And not forgetting one of the ten Commandments:-
"Thou shalt have no other God before me."

I can see where witches can "take" from the Christian religions but I don't believe they can call themselves true "Christian" any longer. They are "heretical Christian" which I have heard used by many witches who believe in the Christian faith but disagree with all BUT the main principles (IE: God, Mary, "Christ", etc). They can also be Lutheran, because Lutherans are capable of interpreting the Bible through their own personal ways.

But then again, how many Christians are perfect representations to their religion? The idea is laughable because it is an unrealistic goal for humans to achieve. So for a Christian to pick up witchcraft, I applaud them for breaking free of the unrealistic idealism of Christianity and following their hearts. Christianity's roots lie in paganism and paganism is steeped in magickal practice. Then again, so is Christianity, but they have belief that only "priests" "reverends" and the like have the authority to perform ritual (laying of hands, mass, etc)

The Bible is very contradictive. That's the problem. It was written by too many people and edited every which way. Do not suffer a witch to live is actually translated "poisoner" to live. And so on... Every mention of a witch has been twisted in order to support the witch hunts and pagan prosecutions. Since Christianity became tied with the Roman Emperor, pagans have been killed.

But witches then went under the guise of Christians in order to continue to practice. This slowly, through passed down generations became acceptable.

However "Wiccan" is a set religion, not merely a heretical Christian that practices the craft. It's like saying your a Hindu Christian, it just doesn't work out that way. You can incorporate beliefs of other religions to create your own path that makes sense to you, but this is called "eclectic"

That's as far as I really wanted to dig, but a simple search and you would notice more threads on this subject than is probably necessary.

Needless to say, this topic has been done again and again and again and again. Your points have been brought up already and any one of these threads would have been ok to post your thoughts on the matter.

I see no point in beating a dead horse.

Ok, first of all I'm also not here to start a debate. Everyone has a right to his/her own beliefs and no matter what anyone else says about it not being possible to be Christian Wiccan, they believe that so, they are in a way Christian Wiccan. Contrary to popular belief you can be Christian Wiccan. You can believe in The Ten Commandments, yet follow what Wiccan's believe. You can believe that The Ten Commandments are a strict moral code to live by. Then in a way, you would be Christian Wiccan because you believe in both.

I can see a wiccan praising the christian god however, christianity and wicca are two totally different religions/spiritual paths.

chrisitanity and wicca is two very different religions. christianity bans the practices of wicca. ironically, christain practices are similar to wiccan practices. pagan holidays were taken by the christains and morphed into christain belifs. christainty is a very wierd religon....the bible has TONS of errors in it. for example, plants coulnt have been created before the sun...and light couldnt have been created before the stars of the sun. you need objects to PRODUCE the light. there are tons others i can talk about but i dont want to get into all of that. i personally think that christity has WAY to many restrictions in life. many of the quotes are mistranslations.

Rashnux. You are right in that this debate has had many posts. The problem there is that many newcomers and/or children do not read all the posts! And it keeps cropping up. As you say, it is flogging a dead horse. However, one last time!
A Christian is one who believes that Jesus of Nazareth was the son of God.(Never mind all the different dogmas!) A witch does not believe any such thing.
Ergo, Christian Wiccan is a contradiction in terms.

I've been Wiccan for five years now. I have a major christain family where my dad is a minister and most of my family are christain. If you tell a christain that you are a christain wiccan there will be a major uproar.
I even go to church with them out of respect b/c I live in their house.
Don't get me wrong christianity is a great faith or spritual path but it isn't for me not in a sense that I don't want their beliefs or moral codes just that wicca felt like it called out to me more, I could identifiy with it and co-op with it.
Growing up in a christain family you are definately taught to fear and hate witchcraft (wicca, paganism, the occult, divinition,etc..)
A major christian belief is: Any thing not christian is of the devil or a false doctrine made of demons and liars. That means any other belif or religions or spiritual paths other than christianity.
And thats the only animosity we as wiccans or pagans have toward the christian faith or any other faith that believes there way is the only true way to God.
Christians will not allow a mixture of their beliefs if you believe in christaianity be christian not just half thats stupid
thats like saying "I'm in the garage but doe's that make me a car." (No your no car your a human in the garage!)-Metaphor-
Wicca is a way of life live it to the fullest.
Christainity is a way of life live it to the fullest.
Buddism is a way of life live it to the fullest.
and so on.
Wicca doe's give it follwers a free and broad opening of Gods and how we connect with them but how can you mix that with a religion that says don't touch or beliefs unless you sell out to Jesus and the bible only.
You can say your a big contridictory all you want b/c we all have free-will and we're all individuals but to break down two ways of life that clearly don't mix is ridicules,
It is true a wiccan can follow the christain moral codes because those are good to go off ( some of the ten commandments) and most pagans see Jesus, mary, or saints as deities but to try and believe in the christain God and another belief is not so because in christain terms you would have already slapped him in the face and you would be denyed by him.Like I said before if you wanna be christian be christian if you wanna be wiccan be so.
Christian will not allow any other doctrines to be inter mingled into theres if it isn't in the bible they don't want it.
These too links are what christains veiw points on wicca,paganism,occult,etc.. are: (Watch them and you'll see just some of what they believe and they are very adament about it):

Please, stop with the generalizations and the stereotypes. Christianity has been around for a good two thousand years. During that time, billions of people have developed just as many beliefs and traditions under the label of Christianity. not all Christians follow all "christian" beliefs. Wicca, in one form or another, has been around far longer. Is it reasonable to assume every Wiccan subscribes to all "wiccan" traditions? A Christian is not someone who follows all "christian" practices, or someone who belongs to a Christian church. A Christian is someone who believes in Jesus Christ, accepts Him as Lord and Savior, and genuinely tries to follow His example. Beyond that, falling for the dogma is optional.

Christianity and Wicca are two separate religions, so yes, "Christian Wiccan" is something of a contradiction. But Christian witchcraft is not, unless Wiccans plan on copyrighting the entire concept of magic. Any supposed incompatibilities between Christianity and magic are for the individual practitioner to reconcile, and hardly constitute a breach of the overarching belief in the divinity and savior-ocity of Jesus Christ, which as I stated before, is far more important to being a Christian than any arbitrary rules or prohibitions.

Also- please stop acting like like y'all are experts on Christianity. I don't go around telling any of you how to be good Wiccans. Then again, I don't tell other Christians what they can and can't believe either. Hmm.
