Lesson #1-Faeries

What is a Faerie?

In my words, a Faerie is a living embodment of something. Like water, air, earth, fire, etc. Faeries are a representation of that something, and reside within it. So, let's take water for example. A faerie of water is called an undine or merperson, and can do multiple things with it. An undine might reside within a lake, or ocean.

Types of faeries:

Water faeries, as mentioned above, are called undines. They manipulate water. I pray to them for a safe voyage when traveling by water, or pray to them for a bountiful fishing. They can be offered sea salt and sea shells.

Fire faeries are called will o wisps, fire dancers, or salamanders. Salamanders come in many different forms, and will o wisps are sometimes seen as flashes of red orbs.

Earth faeries are called gnomes. Gnomes always appear in a physical form. Gnomes dance within the walls of cavers and caves. They manipulate rock and gravel.

Wind faeries are called sylphs or sylphids. They appear in the form of scented wind. Sylphids can manipulate the wind. They reside within the air, and almost never come down to the land. They almost care nothing about what goes on on land, and cares about everything in the air. They can be offered honey. Pray to them when traveling by air, so you will have a safe trip

Tree faeries are called dryads. These beings' lives are tied to their guardian tree. If the tree dies, they die. So remember, everytime you see a tree, there is a dryad for it. They can't go very far from their guardian tree, either.

What is the difference between regular spirits and faeries?

For me, nothing. I use the term faerie as an umbrella term. When I say spirits of the wind I mean "faerie", and vice versa.

Can they be summoned?

Yes, but they don't like it. They hate it. It's like someone plucking you out of your seat and saying "hey, do this for me", and you REALLY don't want to.

How can I invite them into my home?

Outside- Plant a garden and set a portion aside for the fey. Have mini statues set up, and build mini tables and chairs for them.

Inside- Dedicate a space for them such as an altar. Make sure to keep the area clean at all times, though, because no one likes a filthy home. Put faerie statues on the altar, and get creative.

Tips:

Pick up trash. Faeries hate trash, so do them a favor and pick up trash wherever you see it.

Faeries are everywhere. Walk outside and pick a place and just start talking, they'll hear you, and this is a good way to get on their good side. Also, if you see a figure in a tree, or a face in a tree, it's probably a faerie. Faeries also appear as wisps of light in the corner of your eye. One time, I was meditating, and I opened my eye, and I saw a little wisp of yellow light. I look towards it, but it went behind a tree and disappeared.

Faerie appearance:

Faeries have no set appearance. Some have wings and others don't. In my mind, I see faeries as both male and female, wearing clothes made out of the light of the sun, and light of the moon(metaphore). Some are big, and others, small. Although, they can change shape.

Faeries on the physical plane:

Faeries can't appear on the physical for more than a few moments. Although, while Samhain is nearing, the veil is becoming thin, so they are able to come out for longer spans of time.

So, I hope you guys liked this post, this is my first time teaching.

I went to a guy named perrych for a little bit of this information.
