Meditation

When you're trying to meditate for the first time you should first focus on findings place and atmosphere where you can be totally I disturbed and relaxed. This is going to be specific to you for example I prefer to be outside in our garden in quiet. My wife however is in her Workroom with music blaring when she meditates. So find you're fit first. Once you have that you can begin. At first you should probably just focus on achieving a true deep meditative state. First concentrate on physical sensations. In the case of negative ones acknowledge that they are there then dismiss them from your mind. In the case of breathing focus on regulating it. Slow deep breaths are normally suggested but as you don't want to be distracted by trying to breathe right I argue to breathe comfortably and put that from your mind. Now you can turn inward and look at the mental sensations. Again here you want to do the same look at each thought or emotion that you have. Acknowledge it's existence and then release it. Some people use mental maps such as a field of stars to track their progress. In that example when there are no stars left only black you have achieved a true meditative state you are living in the moment.

This is actually a really great post. Although I don't meditate often, the advice you offered up would be what I would have said.
When I do meditate, I often prefer to do it in or around some form of water. That can be dangerous though depending on how one goes about it.
