Yule Celebration

Yule is typically placed on, any time from December 21-23. It however is all on the precise movements of each planet, particularly, the sun. Yule's origins are based from Norse, as well as, Saxon. This is maybe where it get's it's name. From the words, Lul and Hweolor-tid.

Yule is one of the most joyful times, but despite what others say, it is also a time of true hardship. It is joyful for it is an encouraged festival that promotes the sun to return to it's force. In the wiccan calendar, yule marks the moon phase from waning, to now, waxing. We celebrate the return of the sun, the rebirth of the god, the return of harvests, and light.

Myths : A extremely well known myth is one of the Oak king, and Holly king. Since the oak king rules the waxing year, the two kigs lunge into battle. In the end, the oak king wins and life is restored.
Another myth is one of persephone and, Demeter. This myth is a well known myth. It is said that on Samhain, the god of the underworld who is named Hades, kidnaps the young girl and makes her love him. Demeter is then aggravated and then refuses to let anything grow, this is then starting a search on Yule. During yule, Hecate is said to help demeter with the yearly search. This continues till Imbolc, sometimes Ostara.

Things to do: Walk around examing the sun, and the life. Give gifts and food, endulge is rest, plan for future, ect.

This year i am waking up on dawn, and going for a walk. I will first make breakfest, give a gift, pray, then walk. I will then do a noon ritual, and go out for daily mundane activities, i will come home, pray again and relax.

Questions: Sometimes you work with deities who are not the ''sabbat kind''. Say your patron is Zeus, and the sun god is apollo. It's okay, take a breath.

I usually ask all deities to come and join me, i thank and ask all gods to aid me in the yule time. But i then say a poem, or do personal magic, asking for the sabbats deity to aid me.

What are you all doing?

First and foremost, I like your post. It is well written and informative. As to answer your question, if I'm write about Yule also being the Winter Solstice, I'm spending the day cleansing myself, meditating, and working on some of my issues in which I have not let go of.

I was reading some people celebrate for 12 days for various reasons depending on path. My coven gets together the Saturday night into Sunday and have a solitary circle on the actual day.

My coven couldn't make it this year so I'm just doing the solitary thing. When I woke up I said a prayer, after breakfast I agreed to go to church with my family because it's the nativity tale and carols [and moms reading so I agreed] then I'm going back to her house and the family is having a Yule dinner. [Lamb this year] The next moring I'm having a sunrise circle and exchanging gifts with my boyfriend.

Yule or Litha I hope it's a good one. Blessed be.

It was my first Yule, so I did a ritual at 1:00 am. Then, at 7:00 pm I went to a public ceremony centered around the Norse pantheon. I'm not doing the twelve days though.
