Khenty-irty

My original posting to be found at: https://www.facebook.com/groups/165855053600195/

Khenty-irty, Khenty-er-irty, and Khenty-Khem. All of these are different names surrounding the same deity.

Khenty-irty ~ "Foremost of eyesight", "Foremost with eyesight", "Foremost of eyes"

Khenty-er-irty ~ "Foremost of no eyesight", "Foremost without eyesight", "Foremost of no eyes"

Khenty-Khem ~ "Foremost of Khem" (Khem being a city within Kemet)

I'll be using Khenty-irty for the majority of this post, as Khenty-irty describes more than just where He is from.

Khenty-irty is connected to Heru-wer (Horus the Great), as His eyes represent the sun and the moon. When the sun or moon is covered/missing (such as during eclipses or when the moon is fully shadowed), He becomes Khenty-er-irty. He is mainly a warrior Netjeru, and often appears as falcon headed man. When Khenty-er-irty He has been linked to the shrew or to the mongoose. As Khenty-irty, He is the powerful warrior who knows his enemies from His friends and sees all. As Khnety-er-irty, He is the powerful warrior who has lost His eyes; by losing His eyes, He becomes the dangerous and terrifying warrior who attacks friend and foe equally.

With His eyesight, He is supposed to be able to see into men's hearts and to know their intentions.

Khem was the main city of his worship, and He was later disposed by Heru-wer.
