Okay, I have received so many questions on the always wanted "summoning" spells, ritual,..etc. This question goes from asking, "How do I summon my spirit animal," to, "How do I summon God/dess," well I'd like to point out the factor, you do not, I repeat, do not, want to start our learning how to "summon", you might want to learn how to "banish". You don't want to summon anything unless you know how to send it back. Now, even if you summon a spirit, as far as my studies have shown me, spirits will not physically appear, although, you will be able to feel their presence.
Now, in many culture there are different ways to "banish" an unwanted spirit, like, cleansing with sage, but not limited to a banishing spell, like I said there are many ways to banish something, I would read up more on the subject before attempting the summoning aspect. You will know if something has been banished.
Summoning is quite a confusing topic, many people want to do it, but many people don't know the realism of summoning. Summoning like many aspects of magick is dangerous, because, you don't know what could come through, even not visible to the physical dimension, it can still affect your/someone else in negative ways. There are many ways to summon a spirit, there is offerings, spells, ..ect. It's different in many cultures.
I totally agree with this .. I feel that you should not summon something you can not banish. the practice of banishment is extremely important when you want to start working with other energies and entities. Thank you for sharing ^_^
Very true. You should do a lot of research before summoning a being. You should know their strengths and weaknesses, likes and dislikes, and most importantly how to banish them should things turn ugly.
Regarding summoning a God or Goddess, you shouldn't. [And as far as I'm aware you couldn't] you can call on them, you can welcome them into your circle, you can give them offerings, pray to them, or in some cultures invoke them in a ritual [like a reenactment of a religious tale.] But to summon a deity is very demanding and if they oblige it's most likely not to help you but instead to give you a royal slap! Some deities are peaceful and understanding, but I know many pagans whose patron deity and given them a swift kick to teach them a lesson [I'm not saying a physical attack, but say you worship The Morrigan for example, you do something she's not happy with and the next day you wind up tripping and breaking your favourite cup, only to look up and a crow is looking at you. Usually a sign that someone's not happy.] Deities prefer you introduce yourself and build a relationship.
Summoning might sound cool, but that's like chapter 7 in the beginners book of witchcraft. Walk before you can run, and as always be careful what you wish for.
Oh,yes, that is true. Another aspect that people don't consider enough is communicating with spirits.
They go out there summoning entities expecting what they understand from movies :a perfectly visible spirit that you can easily hear.
They shall learn to sense presences before attempting to call any. Also getting in a trance and astral projecting would be useful,as they make the communication go smoother. If those are too much, the classical pendulum technique could strive in.
So yes, banishing and how to sense and communicate with entities shall come before the summoning part that everybody seems so obsessed about.
