Hi, all, I was reading this little article online in which a woman was talking about her conversations with this one god. She was very detailed about it, and she was even able to put quotation marks and stuff around it, so it wasn't really symbolic. So I was wondering, do any of you hear deity, and how do you do that?
I've heard it can be done in the astral, and stuff, but is it possible to do it in dreams? And how do your deities normally talk to you?

I think how your deity communicates with you, really depends on the deity. I've had friends that have said they've actually heard the voice of their deity, and others that have felt or gotten certain feelings or emotions from their deity.
For me, I wouldn't say I've heard Bast, but more felt her, if that makes sense?
I have had some interesting experiences with something known as deity shadowing. It is a form of deity channeling in which the deity's presence is with you and guides you through the ritual. I was unaware that this even existed until I discussed it with a friend here on the site.
My first experience with this occurred during a healing ritual. I felt the presence of my deity come through me, almost as if we were sharing a body and she was using me to direct the flow of the energy. My body felt calm, yet it was vibrating with energy. Even after grounding several times, I still felt this energy lingering for a few hours after. I have had several other experiences like this since then, and I absolutely love it. I feel it really brings me closer to my deity and it shows me that she cares about me as just as much as I care for her.
A short while ago, I did a ritual for my Goddess, Bastest. It was an offering ritual (I wanted to thank her for being part of my life and helping me and my family throughout our lives). During the ritual, I felt the urge to meditate as if she were telling me to so so. I laid down on the floor and allowed myself to drift off into a meditative state. Shortly after doing so, I found myself at the base of a large stone building that I assume was a temple of some kind. I ascended the stairs and I found Bast waiting for me just inside the doorway. In her hands she held a pink lotus flower. She handed the flower to me and gave me a slight nod as if to say, you know what to do with it.
I returned to my normal state and was slightly confused with the message she had given me. I'd never worked with lotus flowers before nor did I have any idea what one might mean. I looked it up and found out some interesting things.
The lotus (in regards to magical associations) is associated with love, protection, spiritual growth, and psychic awareness.
In ancient Egypt it represented/was associated with rebirth, death, and the sun. The pink lotus represents our state of mind. A closed pink lotus represents transcending to a path of spirituality. An open lotus flower represents enlightenment.
I believe that she was telling me that I am growing on my path and have a better understanding of not only myself and magic but of working with her and the Kemtic faith as well.
Through my time of working with her, I've found that she communicates with me in a variety of ways, but it seems to depend on the situation at hand.

I commonly call it deity shadowing/channeling. It's an acquired skill and it takes time to develop.
I've heard it can be done in the astral, and stuff, but is it possible to do it in dreams? And how do your deities normally talk to you?
Dreams are totally random and unpredictable. So, you'd have a better chance of communing if you have the ability to lucid dream. However, deities can send you messages through dreams through many different ways. They can straight up show up, or give you symbolic meanings.
I feel their words form in my head through their energy. It's extremely difficult to explain, but it's stronger when I'm doing divination. Sometimes the deity likes to give added advice and will speak to me through the mind. With that, I am able to convey messages from them to the client, or me if I'm doing a reading for myself.
Make sure you have a good relationship with said deity. Meditate, and get to know their energy, from that, you both will find a way to communicate. Whether it be through words of the mind, or images of symbolism. Some people even practice automatic writing with them.
I agree with the above comments: I think it is something that happens for some people- but not all. And I think it is something that can take time to acquire if it is meant to happen. Some deities seem to be very direct, and in some cases I've had conversations back and forth with some of the deities I work with. That kind of communication, for me, is the simplest and most straightforward. On the reverse of that, other deities Ive worked with have been wordless and I simply feel their intent or presence and they make their wishes known to me in other ways. I tend to struggle in that regard, because it is harder for me to necessarily know what the deity is trying to infer. I think it definitely can be done in dreams, in visions, while you are projecting or in an altered state, when you are channeling, or even when you're not really doing anything. For me, I believe it's more or less up to the Gods. They choose how they want to come across and on what level.
