Hello...
Many newcomers to the Craft begin to learn about Witchcraft/Wicca by reading a few books. It doesn't take them very long to discover that each author has a different slant on the subject. Information, even about the most basic elements such as history, circle casting or spellwork. , can sometimes be not only different, but often conflicting. At this point, the newcomer may throw up their hands in despair and decide to find a real live person to help straighten all this out
Just to point out, you do not need to contact anyone off this site for guidence if you do not know them. The above poster has put this email adress up regarding everything from beginner training to translation of magickal languages.
well 'witch' is just a title. your first step should be to separate reality from fantasy [we do not fly on broomsticks for example] then make a list of what you feel a 'real witch' is. what interests you about the path, what do you see is a witch? some things on your list you can study and practice now [example, say you feel witches are knowledgeable about herbs] while others could become goals to work towards [example, you feel witches live in old stone cottages, and you want to live in one too]
witchcraft isn't a religious path, but many do incorporate religion into the craft. you might wish to do some soul searching to figure out if a path suit you. try reading a few books for beginners. The Witches Bible by Janet and Stuart Farrar might be helpful for you.
To you want to Become a Wiccan witch
Or a Witch Witch, better known as a tradional witch?
Wicca would be a religious path
Tradional witches can be of any religion or no religion
Figure that part over time, for now just learn the Basics of the craft, get a few books, study online and email some people on this board for advice, I am not a Witch, I practice Hoodoo and some High Magick, both in ways that involve my Catholic faith and heavy use to body fluid's, im not into herbs and Chakras, I like powders, dolls, petitions and Candles
Get a couple of beginner witchcraft books
My all time Favorite is Mastering Witchcraft by Paul Huson
Dont worry so much about becoming a witch, just learn, also
I would strongly suggest that you learn to read Tarot or Rune's
Divination is everything for a beginner..
