HOTM: Sage

Last month's Herb of the Month was Lavender.

This month's Herb of the Month is Sage.

Simple protection powder:

Sage 2:1 with the rest of the ingredients, Salt, Red Peper Flakes, Black Peper, and Garlic powder.

Garlic, sage, salt, and black pepper all have associations with protection, while red pepper flakes adds a fiery aspect to the protection. Use whatever base prefered, I like using a base of corn starch. I believe this may be a "fiery wall" recipe, though I really don't remember. I only remember the ingredients and purpose.

I'm very fond of grey ball sage,or it's also called tobacco sage. It's said to be good to use for ancester worship,and general sage stuffs. It's pretty,looks like sage with a pretty flower on top.....

I like to put dry powdered sage, salt, and white crystals in my circle before a spell. It helps keep bad energies out when doing my spells.

How to Grow Sage

Sage can grow from seeds, but the best way to grow high-quality sage is from cuttings from an establishedplant. You can start the seeds/cuttings indoors 6 to 10 weeks before the last springfrost.

Plant the seeds/cuttings in well-drained soil 1 to 2 weeks before the last springfrost.Plant the seeds/cuttings 24 to 30 inches apart. For best growth, the soil should be between 60 and 70F. Plants should grow to be between 12 and 30 inches inheight.

In the garden, plant near rosemary, cabbage, and carrots, but keep sage away fromcucumbers.
