Hermeticism

Are there any hermetics here? I would love to hear more about it, since the only information I have to go on is the internet and I don't have the funds yet to buy the required texts.

You can find free PDF versions pretty easily on the topics of Hermeticism, Thelema, and other practices of high/ceremonial magick. There are a lot of different authors and books on it.

Awesome, thanks! Although I suppose the reason I asked is because I prefer learning through conversation than reading, although being able to read it will help too. I'll do a little more googling tomorrow to see if I can find them.

Learning other religions and how they relate to one another, comparative religions, drawing relationships, is an important hermetic discipline. Trying to lift the veil of understanding. The gods or personalities that embody Hermes include, but not limited, Thoth and Mercury and Hermes of Greek.

The Kybalion is pretty good hermetic related work, here is a link directly to it, a pdf version. The work does go on the defensive. Just try to pay attention on the axioms and don't concern yourself too much with other stuff it goes on about.

The focus is on self-mastery, mental transmutation. Being the cause instead of the effect. Even mainstream personal development materials (including anger/stress management, effective communication, behavioral) are hermetic in nature. You can draw up those personal development works as well.

Manly P Hall Secret Teachings of All Ages, read the chapters and sections on Hermes and Hermetics, he does a very good job, here is a pdf file:
