It's very difficult to do readings with someone you don't know. You have to have some knowledge of the subject and the person to know how to properly read the cards because they usually mean different things in different contexts.
There is a way to do your own tarot reading with a regular deck of cards. However, you will only have access to the minor arcana: cups, pentacles, swords, and wands. For some people that is enough. I don't remember where I saw it--probably in the articles section--but there is a tutorial on this site. You would probably get a clearer reading too by doing it yourself. Tarot cards are supposed to be charged and drawn by the subject usually--at least that's how I've always done it.
