Ingredient for spell

There's a spell that I am considering casting, however one of the ingredients that I need for it is rust. Where can I get that?

You can get rust from rusted iron. If the rust is red or flaky, just use a wire bristle brush to clean the rust off, and collect it.

If you want to make it in a more controlled manner, then filing a piece of iron (nothing 'stainless' mind you, though some steels are also good for this), collecting the filings, wetting them, and leaving them exposed to the open air should yield results as well.

how important is it? if the item can be swapped out for something similar [say sugar instead of honey] i would do that, unless it's key to the spell [like you're casting the 'rusty nail spell' or something]

how to get rust, if you can wait a a day, you can rust them yourself. take some sandpaper and get the waterproof coating off the nails. in a jar, put 1/2 cup or vinegar and 1 tablespoon of salt in a jar. slice a couple cubes of potatoes and leave them to oxidize [go red/brown lie them down on a paper towel and check back in half an hour] place the potato slices into the jar and then the nails and leave for an hour. take out the nails, let dry, then scrap off the rust [or use the whole nail depending on the spell] another option is placing the nails in a jar with 1/2 cup vinegar, 1/2 cup hydrogen peroxide, and 1 tablespoon of salt and leave over night [but idk if you want to use hydrogen peroxide because it's not natural, but whatever works for you]

this all said, i hope you're not planning something negative with this. i wish you luck, but i hope you thought it through.
