Nope, I would be careful what others say online every site as a handful of trollers and fluff.

Astral projection is not actually leaving one's body. It is a perception of the astral, which has different interpretations in different systems. Some believe that it is (as it was originally defined) the realm of dreams, though the vast majority have adapted the term to mean a spiritual plane. Either way, even if the experience is completely immersive, it is more like one's awareness is extended into the non-physical.

It is why a person does not get stuck or lost, and can 'return' in an instant. It is why being possessed by a stray or intent spirit or by someone else is so very unlikely. A person experiencing astral projection does not leave their body.

A lot of people will describe astral projection as a willful out of body experience, but more often, it is simply a very deep meditative state. It is as though you are entering anotherplane of existence by means of your spirit. It takes an extreme amount of discipline and practice to ever really achieve an out of body experience at will, if at all, but even if you were able to do so, the astral plane is not one with the spirit world. You are not completely void of the ties to your physical self. You would always know the exact location of your body and feel its call for your return.

This is one of the many reasons you would not be able to possess someone else's body this way. It also has to do with the fact that you have no ties to their body and no concept of how to enter or inhabit it, not to mention that they would most likely still be inhabiting it already if you were to try.

In short, no. You cannot possess another person's body by means of astral projection.
