Apache traditions

A while ago I met a man who taught me and others at a primitive skills conference Apache traditions. He described an “alpha” mind state where you are one with nature, while walking, noiselessly. He told stories of how if you achieve this, birds land on you without fear and you can touch a deer (though a little more complicated). However, while I have mastered most of the techniques through self study, I have been unable to detect life with my aura. He said to envision it enlarged, and if you pay attention you will be able to feel life signs around you. I have miserably failed in every way with this practice, and am coming here for help. Has anybody mastered this? Any advice? Every time I try it, I feel things and when I open my eyes nothing’s there. It is a fine line to walk when it comes to magic, to know what is your mind making up stuff and what is real. Does anybody know anything about this so you can help me? I would be very careful in believing that this person taught you actual spiritual beliefs from the Apache. Unless you are actually part of the tribe it would be highly unlikely that this would happen as most First Nations people are reluctant to share something so treasured with those who they perceive have stolen everything else from them.

There are lots of so-called plastic shamans out there who dont know anything about the real beliefs of any tribe but who teach the gullible stuff that they simply made up.

I do not know much about the Apache but I do live near a reservation and in Alaska and have different tribes. It is best to be cautious as others suggest.
