Hey, everyone! The Liturgical season of Advent is upon us. If you don't know what Advent is, here's a brief summary:
Advent is a season of the Catholic Church that celebrates the coming of Jesus Christ (see the Gospel of Luke in your Bible). It follows the story from Mary being visited by the Archangel Gabriel to the family narrowly escaping King Herod's wrath.
To throw some magick in there, an easy thing to do is make an Advent Wreath. Here's what' you'll need:
4 candles (three purple, one pink preferably.)
Matches
A Bible
You can additionally have a white candle to light the others, or to represent God, but that's up to you. If you want it to be fancy, decorate around the candles with evergreen branches. The candles should be in a circle.
If you are in a position where you cannot have candles or express your religion, follow this website:
Click the link for the Virtual Advent Wreath once you reach the website.
Now, Advent covers the 4 Sundays of December. Here are the dates for 2020:
November 29: Prophet's candle (purple)
December 6: Bethlehem Candle (purple)
December 13: Shepard's Candle (pink)
December 20: Angel's Candle (purple)
December 25: Christmas (white, though optional)
I will be hosting an Advent ritual in the Coven Chatter each Sunday of Advent at 10:30 pm Eastern Standard Time (daylight savings is also currently in effect for most of the United States).
NOTE: because I'm bad at math, on Sunday, December 6 at 10:30pm EST I will be doing both the Prophet's and Bethlehem candle because we're a bit behind.
UPDATE: Had an awesome ceremony with Priest Brimstone. I was late and had little prep, so my communion was a single tortilla chip and some Dr. Publix so how about that for practical witchcraft XD Spell for 3rd Sunday of Advent is in our spellbook under Spiritual Spells.
We hope to see you for next Sunday, the final candle of the Advent Wreath before Yule and Christmas! That will be December 20th, 10:30 PM EST
Just Brimstone and me again. We had fun and made some plans for Tomorrow December 21st for Yule . It'll be the same time, 10:30 PM Eastern Daylight Standard Time .
The full advent wreath is not lit just yet. That will be done Christmas Day (not Eve). For Yule, if you have Trinitarian Wicca by Nancy Chandler Pittman, we will be using the ritual out of that book on page 102. (If you do not have Trinitarian Wicca, I highly recommend getting it). If you do not have the book, no worries, I will be typing word for word what the ritual is.
The 4th Sunday of Advent is up now in Spiritual Spells, so use that to catch up.
Alright, everyone! Yule ritual is up in our spell book. Because it took a while to transcribe it, I do apologize for that, feel free to celebrate this turn of the wheel in your own way.
Tonight was a special night. Tonight we saw the Star of Bethlehem sine upon us and our coven. Take that energy with you as we approach Christmas!
