I thought a thread for our current favorite tools, and items for use with in practice would be nice for discussion.
So what are some of your current favorite items or tools?
Are there reasons these are your favorites?
What are some of the ways you use these items?
Personally one of my newer favorites is a pendulum made of clear quartz I found at my local spiritual shop. I asked it in store to give me a big swing if it wanted to come home with me and it did. I have found it to be accurate for divination it seems, and I use it frequently for this. I tend to read with it for a while and once I feel it needs cleaning and cleansing, I cleanse it with a homemade consecration oil, wiping excess oil off. By the way can others here let me know if it is alright to cleanse quartz with an oil like this? I really do not wish to ruin the stone.
My next current favorite is mugwort. I light a little daily for meditative purpose. I do this to strengthen meditative visualization.
My next is a book entitled Inner Knowing. I am honestly enjoying this book and find time to read from it when I can.
What are some of your favorites you currently use and for nd yourself working with?
Quartz is a ery stable stone and non-reactive, especially clear quartz. About the only thing you should avoid is applying high direct heat. Other than that about the only way to hurt one is by hitting it with a hammer.
As for my own favorite tools, I have a wand that started as a stick I found by a river, which I tipped with a piece of kyanite. Also a tree root I found that was arrow straight until one end which goes twisty in that dramatic 'movie wizard' sort of way. It is now, naturally, my staff.
And then there is my sword which started as a pride-and-joy collection piece. (Paul Chen/Hanwei's Viking Rider) It 'bit' me one day while giving it an oil and honing, so I used the cut to consecrate the blade along with some dragon's blood. A bless and awaken later and it has become my most potent tool for expressing will and authority.
Of course I also have a pretty robust crystal collection as well, but of all the different stones on my spread I would have to say my moldovite piece is the one I reach for the most.
I had a homemade staff made from a branch I had found lying on the ground. It was intended to be used as a dowsing rod. I dowsed with it intending to program it to find crystals out of doors. The very first thing it found for me was a large piece of nice quality anthracite which I used to top the rod. It became as a staff for me, yet I continued to use it for dowsing crystals.
It now as far as I remember is kept in storage, and has long since lost his anthracite top.
Moldavite is something I do not own currently, though I have heard much about it. From what I have read many react to it quite differently. Some adore it, others find it too strong.
I do not currently have any myself, as the price ranges and this stone in particular possibly due to the hype within the spiritual or even collector community, can get pretty expensive even for smaller specimens. I have seen them range from 16$ onward.
Thank you for your help. The pendulum is something I do wear daily, so it is out in the sun, though not for too long of a period at a time.
It is great to know the oil shouldn't harm it too much.
Moldovite is indeed one of those intense stones that people either love or avoid. Not too surprising considering it is a tektite formed by an (assumedly large) meteor impact.
The expense comes from its uniqueness and finite supply. Honestly $16.oo is pretty darn inexpensive... suspiciously so, to the point I would assume what is being sold is likely just colored glass. Most genuine pieces are small (usually a square inch-worth or so), dull green, and priced between $60 to $100.00 in most places. Museum quality pieces are bright green, much more clear and glassy, and intact/free of chips and cracks. Those are exponentially more valuable and by now most are in actual museums.
It is unique because all other known tektites (glass made from meteor impacts) are blackened and brown-ish in color.
Moldovite was made by a singular impact in a specific area and so the volume made is much more finite, theorized to be only a couple tonnes-worth last I heard, and it has been collected for ... quite a long time already.
I find that Moldovite is basically a magnifier. Sort of a combination of kyanite and Herkimer diamonds in function. It clears energy basically instantly, stimulates movement, and aligns flow like Kyanite. It also stimulates growth, raises vibration, and intensifies energies it contacts the way Herkimers do. So it is a double-whammy that can leave people feeling like they are being electrically shocked, or getting a full-body energy flush just by touching one. So when you aren't expecting/used to it, it can be a bit overwhelming.
I still remember the buzz I felt for hours after trying on a copper-wire headband made by the proprietor of a metaphysical store I used to visit regularly. It had a moldovite pyramid at the crown, at the brow, and one that hung down the back touching the base of my skull. It caused a heck of a head rush. I felt like I was half out of my body for at least an hour after.
