I wanted to discuss about something kinda important. Mental health spells. I know some might say you should turn to a therapist if youre really struggling but is there at least a spell that can help with it? Ive been talking with other fellow witches & they have said that there are some alternatives, like maybe a peace of mind spell just to give you sort of a mental break or whatsoever. Ive been suffering from mental health issues for a bit and do talk to a specialist but, is there really anything you can do about with magic? Just a question although I dont really think about doing any magic related to mental health because I believe it can come back with consequences.
There are spells for depression. Some people confuse mediumship with psychosis and schizophrenia, not to be confused. There's a difference between hearing voices of spirits in your head and communicating with them and having auditory hallucinations. I'm a mental health patient myself, I suffer from bipolar depression due to my past. I think the best way to cure a depression is listening to music, meditating, doing things you like, eating healthy food, exercising, etcetera.
People who suffer from permanent schizophrenia shouldn't be allowed to pratice any type of magic, in my opinion. It can worsen the condition. I have respect for all mental health patients as I am one myself, but I can distinguish what's real and what's not. That's the thing - some people suffer from schizophrenia and go on praticing magic, which is going to make things worse. Especially if it's black magic.
My master managed to cure part of my depression through his work, he is a truly devoted man to mental health and all health in general. The man who initiated me. I hold him kind in my heart, as his spiritual work (which he did for me pratically for free, and taught me knowledge that only the big dogs such as Crowley, Regardie, Sandra, Fortune have) worked wonders for me and now I'm managing to gain money in a subtle way, my depression isn't as bad now, I feel better, I can shower, I can do things, I can cook, I can work, he really did wonders with that ritual bath he made a couple of years ago.
Then my master disappeared. That's when I knew I was ready for my journey. When the student is truly ready, the master disappears. I don't know what country he is living in now (he has stood infront of some of the greatest occultists in the world) but I hope he is doing OK.
I believe in spiritual work for mental health. But man, it is truly hard to cure diseases such as alzheimers or acute schizophrenia. Depressions, bipolarity, ADHD are easier to cure.

In my opinion, one of the best additions to therapy (and to any necessary medication) is mindfulness meditation. Studies have shown that mindfulness meditation is effective in many forms of mental illness such as Bipolar Disorder, ADHD, ADD, anxiety, etc. The meditation helps to keep you grounded in the present and gives an opportunity to breathe and relax. There is an excellent book on the topic called "The Miracle of Mindfulness" by Thich Nhat Hanh. I'd also recommend the videos by Jon Kabat Zinn of guided meditations that you can easily find on-line.
I would not say that one should not do magic if one is dealing with a mental illness. But it is important to realize that sometimes the energies involved in doing magic can aggravate some mental health issues. So it is vital that one uses magic carefully and only as an adjunct to medical management of your symptoms. This seems to be applicable in your case as you've indicated that you are already in therapy, so I see no reason not to use some spells to help you deal with your specific situation.
It is also a good idea to realize that magic is not going to take away your underlying condition, it will simply help you deal with it so you feel better and stronger in spirit.
Some herbs have long been known to bring peace and tranquility into our lives. Some are used in aromatherapy, some can be made into teas. Five such are mentioned in a peer-reviewed German study at https://achs.edu/blog/2015/09/16/5-soothing-herbs-for-peace-and-calm/ Another useful site on herbal supplements for calming the mind is https://www.gaiaherbs.com/blogs/seeds-of-knowledge/time-to-relax-natural-herbs-tips-for-calming-the-mind-and-body If you are on any medications right now, be sure to discuss any herbal supplements you are on with your doctor as there can sometimes be complications with using both herbal remedies and modern medicines.
You might also look into the possibilities of aromatherapy which is discussed here: https://www.verywellmind.com/aromatherapy-for-stress-research-and-techniques-3144598 and also here: https://www.healthline.com/health/depression/essential-oils-for-depression#research
And there is a really good site that has quite a few spells which can be used for a variety of mental health issues at https://heatherwitch.tumblr.com/post/171220179730/mental-witchcraft-for-your-symptoms
I hope you find this information useful. If you still have questions, don't hesitate to ask.
Health spells are most of the time a debatable topic and I would always recommend to visit a therapist (professional help) I would never replace it with magic but another choice would always use magic alongside it, it is very likely most other witches each one is likely to give you a different response(you can always try a health spell when your ready and ready to take that step)
Blessed Be
No spell (as in "I cast this spell once and so I'm done with all the related effort") will cure any mental illness. Magic related to this pursuit is a process. It's basically as simple as that.
Magic alone may possibly be effective, but it also has its risks and dangers. Approaching with understanding can help avoid some of the dangers and mitigate the risks. However, I would not suggest that one use solely a magic-related practice to attempt to alleviate these issues. It can make for a long and arduous process of trial and error, whereas speaking with a professional can help guide a person down a road better directed towards the end result.
A lot of aspects of the mental health industry originated with occult and other magic practices. Many of the founders behind the science of the mind were practitioners themselves. Because of this, I see them often very closely related, if not occasionally interchangeable in aspects -- even though the magician may deny being involved with any psychology and the psychologist may deny any relation to a magical practice.
I largely agree with Lark: Mindfulness is vital to at least beginning this road. Awareness is the key to so many aspects. So is self-exploration. I think this sort of thing can lead to further steps down the road to progress with coping with mental health issues.
Finally is this: Magic will not likely "cure" someone's mental issues, just as medication will not either. However, either or both may be used to help better manage symptoms, and speaking with a professional can further help learn coping mechanisms. But the issue remains, even in the shadow, and never completely gone. But the person becomes equipped with skills to cope, to minimize what happens during occurrences.
