May Move

I am not certain yet exactly which building but I may have an apartment hopefully lined up. I will have to save and wait. It will not be ready yet for awhile.

In the meantime I have kind of a house spirit here I have had a couple interactions with and I am wondering how to depart.

I do not want to really up and leave without some sort of preparation. I am certain new folk will be around here.

I am merely considering some sort of small ceremony, to say farewell to the spirit I have come to get to know here.

He isn't a very noisy spirit and is usually content to mind his business. He does like to move the change around the space around. I wonder if leaving him something may be appropriate?

Suggestions are welcome.

In what ways have you already been interacting with said spirit? That may be a way to get its attention well enough to dole out some farewells, thanks for the times together, and our time to part has come. An offering may sound nice, too, but be careful about what is left because I've heard some stories about people losing deposits, being charged cleaning fees, etc., for something as simple as leaving a gift basket as thanks to the maintenance people who will do the punch list after moving from an apartment. I'd suggest do what you will for your farewells while you are there, and leave the place as cleared out as you can.

It's always a good thing to just explain to the spirit that you are leaving and new people will take your place. You can leave coins for the spirit if that is what the spirit likes. Maybe an offering of tea or something homemade. You can also do some work on the house to ensure that good people who will treat the house and the spirit well come in. I'll likely do that though with the spirit permission.

I think I'll do what I usually do for spirits I appreciate and leave an offering of rose petals. I will leave it out of doors however.
