These things work well with dream magick, they can be used in other spells also.
a bell (a feminine symbol of the goddess, that calls angels)
a bowl (mix up things)
a caudron (to use when doing some spells)
a chalice or cup (can hold water or wine)
a book of shadows (you can write down your spells in it)
a drum (to call the spitits and/or the other world)
a incense burner or censer
a wand. (Just a tool you can use if ya want)
I hope this helps, here are a few you could use (Reminder as it has been stated before, you do not need these tools at all, they are entirely optional.):
Athame: Also known as a Black-Handled knife, it has many uses, including cutting and closing circles etc. in Wiccan rites, I don't think it's used for physical cutting though, I'll have to get back to you on that.
Boline: Also known as a White-Handled knife, it is used for physical cutting, such as inscribing candles or cutting herbs, some Wiccans and Pagans believe it can only be used in a circle.
Cord: Great to use in Knot and Cord Magick, it can be any colour, as an example I could take a length of green cord (I don't remember the common length used sorry.) and use it in knot Magick for wealth and prosperity with the colour green adding to the effect of the spell/working. Some denominations of Wicca and Paganism use cords for initiation and ranking systems to within covens.
Those are three of the main tools I hear about being used. Hope this was at least a bit helpful. :)
apart from spellcasting materials (the cord is a good one because its ao versatile, you can lay a circle with it, tie knots in it, bind up sigils and fetishes with it etc.) there are four really useful tools: the wand (represents fire, is a means to direct the power of the will) the athame (represents are and logical thought, used to draw divisions between things "cutting" energy, used in casting circles and removing obstacles) the cup (represents water, collects and condenses energy into libations and such. if you replace it with a bowl you could use it for hydromancy. the cup is a receptive and formative tool) and the pentacle (represents earth, used to stabilise and bless. bread can be placed on this during ritual.) these four can be used for many purposes, and are widely used in western ritual magic.

very true, i have heard of the wand and athame having reversed elemental symbolism.
and they can be used to represent whatever you please.
however the wand is used in magical practice to channel raw impulse, which speaks to me more of fire.
while the athame, being a tool of dissection and dispersion represents air and intellect better than the wand, though im sure a very reasonable argument can be made for the opposite. thats why a magician uses what works for him.
where did you get the wand represents air and earth thing i havent come accross the system before? and why be so rude about it?
as a practitioner of chaos magic i appreciate that tools can be replaced or omitted as desired, but the elemental weapons of the western mystery tradition form a nice basic system for someone wanting to experiment with using magical tools.
i personally use a chocolate chip cookie (to boost my energy) the tools are there to help you focus, they are not a necessity. at least thats how i feel. the meaning of the tools is what you put too it.
