Regardless of how you feel towards the characteristics associated with a sign, if you were born within the threshold of the Capricorn sign then you are a Capricorn. Not everyone feels connected to their sign or feels they meet the pre-set characteristics connected with each sign, I myself am a Cancer but feel much more connected to other signs, I will however, always be a cancer because I was born within the date threshold, and there isn't much you can do about it.
It is important to note that these characterists pushed onto signs were written by a person, they aren't a default upon birth. They are simply accosiated to a zodiac sign by someone who has written it, each version you look at will have different characteristics but all follow the same cliche approach, so don't take much to heart. They are made up characteristics that a few indiviuals within a sign may match and relate to, not everyone is the same and so many people won't feel they meet these characteristics at all.
Also understand that there is a lot more to your chart than just your Sun sign. The Sun sign is just what you present to others, and is your outward personality. You should take a look at the other planets as well, what sign and house they are in, and reflect on that as well. Of course, your birth chart is simply a starting point. As you grow and get older your personality is shaped by your actions, choices and environment.
An important thing to understand is that you are more than just one sign of the Zodiac.
The sign you are born under is called your "Sun sign" and indicates which of the Houses of the Zodiac the sun was in at the time you were born. That is what makes you a Capricorn.
However, one then needs to consider your Moon Sign, what Sign is Rising, and where the other Planets fall in the different Houses. That means that you might have a number of planets that fall in Aries and/or Aquarius. You would need to look at a full birth chart reading to fully understand the influences of the Houses in your life.
As an example: my Sun Sign, Moon Sign, and Rising are all in Taurus. So my birth sign is Taurus and I have a lot of Taurus traits. But I also have at least four Planets that fall under one of the Houses associated with Fire so I have those traits too. And I have a couple of Water Houses in my full chart.
All those things listed as well as the fact that the location of our heavenly bodies may well have shifted over the hundreds of years from when the zodiac date definitions were first established. Yet we still use those defined dates. I'm not surprised at all that if you were born on Jan 19, that you display traits of an Aquarius as well because quite possibly, according to our current skies, perhaps you are.
Feeling like a different sign or acting like one, I'm not sure if this fits but I feel it does. For me I was born really prematurely and am a Capricorn. I have found myself often lining up with Pisces traits, and I just looked up what sign I would have been if born full, I would have been a Pisces.
I might look at what exact sign OP was born under, but it requires year and time (hours, minutes) of the birth.
Also if someone was born prematurely, it is the actual day of birth which counts, because that was the first time when you were exposed to all celestial influences for real. Though the day of impregnation is also used in some cases, but that is mostly in Eastern Astrology.
you're born on a transition day [i have the same issue] what i do is read both horoscopes, but i lean more towards Virgo because i was born at night which would push me more towards Virgo over Leo. i have tendencies of both, as a kid i focused on my Leo self, and in my teens i was Virgo, but i've noticed some days i'll read a horoscope [or a detailed 'what your horoscope personality is] and find i'm more one over the other [average though i'm 40% Leo 60% Virgo]
granted im' no expert on horoscopes, and there's a lot more to it than your birth date [sun sign i think is something, plus there's planets, moon phases and what time you were born which can bring more accurate readings. personally, i just read the two sentence blurb and go about my day]
