Visualization is different then Astral Projection, but I didn't think of suggesting that. I always visualize the storyline of the book so that it's like watching everything take place from a spot inside the setting.
I am a Gemini, if it really matters, but I don't hold much to those signs.

Being an author myself, I am well aware of the potential origin of inspiration for a book. Some books are INSPIRED by other worlds, some by natural events, and some (such as mine) by past lives, but the origin of inspiration does not matter when it comes to whether or not you can transport yourself into the book.
You may go to the world that INSPIRED the book, but INSPIRED is the key word there. The world may have inspired the book, but that does not make the world become that book nor does that make the book become that world. They are two separate objects, one being a THING and the other being a place. You can not transport yourself into paper and ink unless, for some twisted reason probably deriving from a VERY low self-esteem, you wish to become paper and ink. And even that I highly doubt the possibility of.

I know that you can't astral project into a book, but I was told that when you your on the lower astral planes, whatever you imagine happens. So could you go there and imagine yourself in the story, like the characters and landmarks and all of that.

Or if that doesn't work...

Could you use lucid dreaming and create the story in your dreams, that way your in it, yet you do not have to go into a book(cuz its not possible). Or if you can't lucid dream, maybe a spell to help you have a lucid dream, or a spell to make you dream about the book/story that you want to go into.

Or you can go with visualizing what happens. That is how I read books and I completely block everything around me out when I read, it's only me and the story. I visualize the characters, landmarks, the events, and everything. I also can a lot times feel what the author is saying the characters are feeling, like if the character is happy, I get happy, and also if the character is next to a fire or something, I start to get really hot. That is almost as good as actually being in the book, because you experience what is happening but within somewhere where you feel safe and can't get harmed.

Just a few suggestions, unless the ap thing and the dreaming thing don't work, then sorry for wasting your time. :)

Those are good suggestions, littlewizard, and upon reading them I realized that I should clarify something.

I do not think it is impossible to be in a similar world to that of the book nor to make your own 'book-world' based on that one, but to literally put yourself inside a book; I explained the only way I believe possible to do that in my first post.

I don't think it's litterally possible but I think that visualisation is the best option (as many before me said)... not that I know how you have to do it 'cuz if I read a book it always has happened without me even noticing it...
1 tip though: don't pick a sad book
reason: I read a book with a cliffhanger where the leadchar was depressed in the end and the next book was not yet on the market, I've been feeling down for a whole week so...

I agree with Reg for the most part. AP isn't really made from imagination, it is a place with its own continents and lands (if you know what I mean). I'm sure there are places you can influence with it, but most people go to the same places and don't imagine up there own.

Also, not all books are based on certain worlds, I think mainly on the authors imagination and not all authors AP. Perhaps by chance someone placed their characters in a place similar, but I don't think you will see the same characters or the plot line.

Essentially, I do not think it is possible to actually place yourself in a book or movie using AP.
