I was looking around in a store and this simple silver band just "called" to me. So I bought it, I left in a bowl of water and salt for a whole moon cycle to purify it. My family has been known to have prophetic dreams, but mine at the moment were a little shakey. So I tried this ritual I made to make the ring help with prophetic dreams, and every night since then, (when I had the ring on) I would have prophetic dreams.
Tolkien was a devout Roman Catholic who wrote his Lord of the Rings works in order to have a world in order to use the languages he created (as he was a linguist), and his books have a strong Christian undertone. Actually, his faith was what caused C.S. Lewis to change from being an Atheist to a Christian, and then write the Narnia Chronicles (books with a strong Christian undertone).
I don't think being of one set religion means you can't channel other messages, and I definitely feel that there is something deeper to the Lord of the Rings, but being of a religion so excluding of other faiths the believer is more likely to pass it off as nonsense. The energy always finds a way around it though, presenting it in a way that the (for example) Christian writer will be willing to write down. Writers don't just write from and for themselves; it is always something bigger, writing for those who will see more (or at least something quite different) in the story. Art is one of the most wonderful forms of the Divine incarnate.
Rings are no new symbolism in any faith or culture, and they are almost always associated with binding and sacred power. I have a 'ring of power' myself, and while I wouldn't describe it in the Tolkien sense, it has definitely been helpful to me in locating sources of energy, storing energy, luck, etc... it's what I enchanted it for. I'm sure there are people out there trying to create Tolkien-type rings... maybe some already have *shrug*. My ring is a simple sterling silver ring with a nice polished piece of amber. I was drawn to it and after having lost my first amber ring (it had a bug in it! :D ) I couldn't pass it up. I love amber, one reason being because it is so old, so much older than I can comfortably fathom; the youngest deposits of amber are at least 10 million years old. I take great pride and interest in working with something that has seen the birth of Man. My particular ring even has a strange inclusion that looks like, dare I say it, blood, but the chunk of amber is too small to tell what it really is. I've never run across amber with these bits of red in them, and I'd love to know what kind of plant (or maybe they're bug legs... the look sorta like it) or deposit it is, but I don't want to crack it open lol, so it shall remain a mystery.
And I didn't know Tolkien was a cause for C.S. Lewis' conversion! I love The Chronicles of Narnia for the beautiful depiction of the Bible as well as the unique story that it is.
Can you be connected to a ring or talisman before you have it? I became obsessed with a pendent that I had a dream about and finally found. I just wondered if I was truly connected to it already.
Yes, I would say you most definitely can. I've had similar experiences with attracting objects; it is probably related to the Law of Attraction.
By it being a talisman, you mean it came pre-enchanted? In that case, it may be that the creator intended for it to find you (not that they would know you personally, but that it was intended for someone of your energy/vibration), and maybe it is even intended to pass through you to someone else.
If you just mean an unenchanted pendent, then it probably holds some deep and/or sentimental value to you? Either way, awesome :D

it takes a lot of time to make a really powerful tailsman, like years or more depending on how much power you seek. The time element can not be avoided or rushed!!!
Work with demons at your own risk. Should you manage to summon one, you are essentially snatching it from its home and more than likely commanding an ancient being to do some trival work for you....so really, think twice before doing so.
