"Christian Wiccans"

Sparrow, many people who have posted grew up in Christian households. And attended Christian schools. That in itself is enough to know what they are talking about. Many times pagans read thoroughly into Christianity, even further than Christian teachings because of the confrontations we get into, usually by "converters".

Even though my mother was not a pure Christian in the least. She believed in the Christian god and jesus. That's it. Cherokee religion is monotheistic and the two compliment each other when you remove the heavy judgemental aspects of the Bible. It was the closest thing she could get to honoring her god without being within the tribe. It's unfortunate but the Cherokee people were hit hard with Christian converters and it altered the tradition.

Although I was not Christian, and she respected that, she forced me to go through every single Catholic sacriment, from Baptism to Confirmation. My confirmation name was Mary, because I knew the connections with her and the goddess.

I went to or through Catholic and Christian schools my entire life because the public schools were terrible. I was homeschooled for a number of years due to financial issues. I was told by a deacon that I was not Christian based off of my beliefs and I couldn't really argue that! My teacher's were always weary of me and my pagan ways. But they weren't as strict as they would have been in years past and continued to allow me to participate in the sacriments. I would have loved it if they hadn't!

My step father's family were Ukrainian Orthodox, so I celebrated not one, but two "Easters" and "Christmas" both of very different traditions, one Greek based, one Roman based. So I learned about the Orthodox ways too regardless of my disagreement with them.

It isn't something most pagans are proud of discussing. I wish that the Christian influence was omitted from the Cherokee teachings I was given. Its taken me years to redress my ancesteral tradition.

well I believe you can...in a way... my friend introduced me to this twisted relion where they belive only in 1 god and no other s. and from what he says they believe in the sacredness of the earth as well as helping people using chants. he calls it christian wiccan and he says that does not go against the ten commandments or god. but i think maybe yall should believe what you want to

I'm Catholic and I practice magick. Its not a contradiction of terms, The Bible forbids Magick when used for evil (necromancy, sorcery and witchcraft all being names connected with evil and negativity by the early members of the church)

Tried christian wicca, it just doesnt feel right. They beleive there is one solar god 'Jesus' with a female half (Sophia) and a male half (jehovah) 2 different gods. The maker of this religion just altered things to make himself feel better. Now I follow asatru a feel good religion in my opinion.

okay, what you should be sick of is people asking for your opinion. its your opinion either or not you can be a christian wiccan, or a christian witch, or whatever. just because one person thinks one thing is correct or wrong doesnt mean that you should believe that that thing is correct or wrong just because the other person thinks so! religion/spirituality is a person path that YOU choice, if you think somethings right, thats great, but dont tell others that what you think is always correct, and right. also dont ask people if something is right, go and research it yourself, and then make up your mind.

i dont belive you can be a christian wiccan because thats 2 relgions you cant be 2 religons you can be eclecec yes thats what i am and its like the one thing that annoys me about christians they take parts of the bible follow it throw some of it away yet the believe they still have the right to yell at you for not following it and i already know i might get yelled at for stating this i just wanted to state my opinion

they are just doing what they believe is right, and there is no fault in those believes. although, this argument can stand to be toned down a bit.

besides, it is not 2 religions, just a form of christianity that sees no evil in the lighter magiks

I will ignore the fact this was originally posted in 2011, last saw life in 2011 and the user left the site because I did enjoy reading it. However, Bull, what are you talking about? Wicca and Christianity are two completely different faiths. Wicca is not a watered down version of Christianity [if that's what you meant] while I don't want to tell someone their religious views are wrong, as its been pointed out, you can't be a 'Christian Wiccan' because the bible is against witchcraft and praying to any god that's not 'God'. People see Wicca as an 'anything goes' path which is untrue, but in theory you could pray to 'God' from a Wiccan standpoint.

The majority of 'Christian Wiccans' I've met are basically in limbo between the two faiths. They could be trying to rebel or feel special but don't want to upset their God. Plus many people today pay lip service to the church. Basically they were born into a Christian household therefore they're Christian even though they can count the number of times they've gone to church on one hand. The problem is more they need to study and soul search so they can choose for themself. Granted if you've done that and still wish to blend Christianity and Wicca who am I to stop you? [It might come out like blending a brick into cream but if you've found what speaks to you whatever]
