That's not quite correct. It is true that the Goddess is often linked with the moon and the phases of the moon are reflected in the concept of Maiden, Mother, Crone.

But the God isn't so much associated with the sun. He is the Horned Lord and associated with the wild places of the earth and with the animals.

If you investigate a wide variety of mythologies you will find the Goddesses linked not only to the moon but also to the sun. Likewise there are both solar and lunar Gods (such as Thoth)
