and about the spell: I've seen that a lot of people do this honey jar spell and there is more than one saying it backfired. there is a story about the goddess Oshun and honey... but who wants will find it, it has to do with what will I say next.
We all need sweet, but sugar, as harmless as it can be, can kill a diabetic... the same thing here.
The spell is actually a lesser domination spell, and simple as it is, it's too agressive. It's like you are trying to eat a whole jar of honey, it's too sweet. too much sweetness is overbearing... and clogs the heart. it acts like poison, some survive, some don't.
If you try it again, dilute the honey 1/2 with water... and don't write names over each other, rather on the othar side of the paper...
and just because it's hoodoo, it doesn't mean it won't backfire. just because it's simple doesn't mean it won't make things complicated. i've seen tve simplest of spells distroy lives...
a spell does or does not backfires because of the tradition or simplicity; it backfires because of the caster and because of the unpredicted circumstances; thus, any spell can backfire.
Actually Lightbarer, as one is who part of the Tradition of Hoodoo, I can tell you that hoodoo doesn't backfire. What can happen is that you shouldn't have done the work to begin with, in which the spirits one works with will slap the snot out of you for not listening to them, or the results don't happen/don't happen how you wanted because you were not specific in your request.
As far as what ever deity you mention and sugar, as well as sugar and diabetes, that does not apply to the path of Hoodoo. Sugar, honey, molasses, and anything else sweet is used just for that. To sweeten. It is not over bearing, it isn't to much. It is very simple and very direct with what the intent it.
While I can understand you do not know the tradition and thus are basing your conclusions on your beliefs, you do not get to redefine what is believed, worked, practiced and thought of in Hoodoo since it's not yours to change.
Diluting the honey means, in a traditional sense, you are diluting the intention and the amount of time it takes to take effect.
Separating the names on the petition paper, means you are separating the people from each other. You write the names on top of each other to show a oneness/relationship.
Wow! Anywho I agree that the honey jar spell did not backfire. I have never seen one not work but my intent was never for love. I only use them to sweeten a relationship. Should still work if it has not already gone to pot.

and did't mean to write the names on separate papers, that would be stupid. On the same paper, just not on top of each other.
as far as i don't tell that such a spell is bad or wrong, sometimes things need to be diluted; not everyone can take the same amount. But I guess, subtlety is not for everyone.
Oshun isn't a Goddess. She's an Orisha, which isn't a goddess/deity. And yes, there is a story where she was almost poisoned with honey. However, from what I understand from Lucumi Priests, she likes honey as an offering so long as you taste it each and every time to ensure it isn't poisoned.
The separation of names, even on the same paper, separates the people. If the goal is to have them come together, you put a name on top of the other to show the connection/relationship/domination.

Now do a research and find out which God/Goddess is involved in Hoodoo work, or say Honey jar spell in particular
Try doing a little apology from your side, a simple meditation and saying sorry with all due respect
Focus on their sigil/sign, light a candle, offer honey or something and just meditate
If you can connect ask them to help you, most Gods and Goddess are friendly they will certainly help!
Or just pray to any God or Goddess you follow and ask them for help.

And ummm let him calm down? If you two WERE in a relationship he will definitely feel like he blocked you for no actual reason, it will take time but it will happen!
