Okay, at any rate...My thought would be to find a way to connect with the presence. Duh. Right? Have an astral face to face with the energy, so to speak, and get right to it. Obviously you'll want to sheild yourself and the area around you, but it shouldn't be too difficult just to be able to identify the energy and figure out what you should do from there.
Sounds different I'm sure, especially if you want an answer That involved incense or candles, because I don't know a lot about them. If you want a recommendation like that, in fact, smudging is the only thing I'm personally familiar with.

I am sorry that I am a day late... But I wish to go there! Not because of the dark energy, but because of the spirit/demon (it sounds like a demon because spirits don't slowly take over the house and it does not show up one day out of the blue without some history to it). You can get a holy man to banish the demon or do it yourself, of course it is dangerous. I'll love to do it myself really badly, but we live far away.
I highly doubt that it is a demon or some entity for that matter most likely just a build up of negative energy that needs to be cleansed. try the lesser banishing ritual of the pentagram if it is by some stroke of luck a demon than that wil deal with it as well as sealing the place

if ur wonting to get rid of it, burn frankinsense and mryth resin on a charcoal disc place a small piece of dragons blood on top of the resin so u have 3 resins burning at the same time, make sure all windows and doors are closed, after the smoke has done its job place the burnt resins high up for 2 days then throw away
The lesser banishing ritual of the pentagram is high magic yes a simple ritual easier than casting a circle. and doesnt require nothing but your athame not even that ive just used my hands before.
I am fairly certain it is a deamon, or demon whatever the prefered noun is, but the odd thing is it told to me that there would be a demon in my world shortly, i didnt really think much of it but i was told a demon named "marchosis" or something to that name, however i was to understand she was a kind demon, not one who woul overtake my house with darkness
coul someone please tell me the proper way to do the lesser ritual of banishment? i would simply look it up online, but i would trust someone directly telling me more
