Amethyst is known as the stone of Humility... It actually has hints of red rays through it. When united with the purple, is allows a connection to Spirit- in the physical sense it also can help with tension/migraine headaches. As far as toxicity goes, a better stone would be Hematite or having charocoal nearby. I am a big fan of crystal therapy xx

Sodalite is more reliable in creating peace in a home than Amethyst is, amethyst is more likely to just make every kind of lazy.
Besides, crystals only do so much, they require a real amount of effort on your part, as well.

Amethyst is a wonderful crystal, especially for an Aquarius. Many know of their physic properties, but a lesser known feature of the amethyst is that in ancient Rome they were revered as a stone of sobriety, so they are also good for addictive behaviors.

For your needs, may I suggest looking into Citrine. Though not as pretty, they are one of the only stones that do not need to be recharged or cleansed ever. They are great at healing past trauma of the mind and spirit and repelling negativity. They are also inexpensive.

haha, I'm actually wearing a Amethyst right now. its one of my favorite gems, Its helped me with insomnia, depression and it always manages to lift my spirits.
A few months ago I gave one of my close friends a Amethyst crystal (Along with a tiger's eye, rose quarts and Moonstone) to help with her problems in life, she told me soon after that it made her feel much better and now she's doing much better than she was before and she still keeps them with her.
